Did you look at any of the links in the FAQ?

one of the boxes needs to be a domain controller and then use client for m$ networks

You could just set up FTP servers for getting files from box to the other

You DO NOT need to setup a PDC to share files between a couple of pcs. If that router has a built in hub, all he has to do is configure the clients on the same ip range.

But do you not need to specify workgroup or domain?

    Go to the D-link site
find your product or one similar to it.
Download the guide pdf for it and that tells you in step by step how to set it all up.

It is easy but be careful and take into account what has been said above

Heres a link for the 604 installation guide
