Hi All

I wonder if any of you can help me, I have an Internet conenction with NTL.

What I want to do is get some Wireless divices that will get the feed from the Modem directly (not the PC) and send it to My 2 pc's, I know that I can setup an Internet Sharing but I prefer not to do this as I will need the main PC switch on to be able to browse in the 2nd PC.

Also if you can let me know a good place were to get them that will deliver to Ireland.

this what i use..... other boards members have had problems/issues with it though....whereas I have (after initial config) relatively few problems.

what you are looking for is a wireless Broadband Router and access point. You should probably go for an 802.11g (sometimes called 54G) device.


The Netgear WGR614 (http://www.netgear.co.uk) or the Linksys WRT54G (http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?grid=33&scid=35&prid=508) would sort you out nicely. Both have a 4 port switch built in, so you can plug the modem into the router, and then plug your main pc into the switch, meaning you'd only need to buy one wireless card for the second PC.

This thread might be better suited to either the wireless or braodband forums though...

I am testing the Dlink product at the moment.
DWL-2000AP Access point and DWL-g60 PCMCIA adaptor for my portable. They also have a wireless PCI card available.

Running very well at the moment at 54Mbs. Can also connect to slower acesspoints.

I dont know what the normal reseller price is. Numerous companies in Ireland sell dlink products.
