Sounds like Bull to me I have been using mine since the Telecom Internet Days with no reliability issues as for the hacking I would say they would be no more prone to being hacked than anybody else, as for ecksor well I would imagine there is little that is safe from him;)

    Too much spam.
Thats why I don't use eircom mail account anymore.
I was getting up to 50 per day before I stopped logging in.

Ecksor can't be mentioned in the same line without security..
He's the man, just look at everything he's done.

CyberGhost, I think your friend may have been talking about a few years ago, eircom net got into the news a couple of times a few years ago, they had to change a few thousand user passwords etc.
I assume that they got their act together after that, so you should have no worries about using them.

One of their servers were running a vulnerable version of bind i think it was 8.2.2P5 or something. No biggie.

Well from what I've seen eircom have a serious spam problem, and they don't seem to be bothering with any kind of server side filtration software or blacklisting. Even the likes of yahoo now have some pretty sophisticated filtering that makes sure the vast majority doesn't even get near your inbox.

I've had an eircom email account for about 3 years and I've had to stop using it due to the torrent of junk I've been receiving (in increasing amounts) over the past few months.

Mabye it will ease off now that the Chinese government are clamping down on professional spammers....
