I'm travelling to from Dublin to Tallinn in October and the cheapest way seems to be to fly Ryanair to Stockholm and get an overnight ferry...

Bus link from the airport to the city centre shoud be no problem.. Just wondering if anyone knows how far the port is from the centre... Could it be walked?

    Thanks

I presume you're taking Viking line or Silja Line. In that case, you get a bus from the central station (walk to the tickets/information office at the entrance to the metro and, when facing it, turn left and take the first right up the flight of stairs; alternatively, take a number and ask at the desk).

Buses from Centralen to the port go every 10 or 15 minutes. When you get there, you literally cross the road into the ferry terminal, which handles both Viking and Silja.

You won't be spending much more than 20 or 25 minutes on the bus, even at 'rush hour'.

    I think it's 40 Kroner to Centralen.

By the way, the overnight ferry is an amazing experience. Make sure you get a night crossing on a Friday or Saturday (are you going direct to Tallinn or taking the ferry to Turku?). The cabarets and discos are quite an experience!

I'm not sure how long you intend on staying in Tallinn; it's a very interesting and beautiful city in the old parts but I'm told it's scummy in the suburbs. Either travel inland (mostly marshes I believe), or take a ferry to Helsinki. There's way more going on there.

I'm going direct to Tallinn, staying in the city for about a week..

It's a midweek overnight ferry run by Tallink afaik... Thanks for the info, I just wanted to be sure that I could get from the bus station in stockholm to the port easily enough :D

Ryanair are quoting me 3.99 sterling for London - Stockholm.. it's insane :)

Yea, I flew 'free' to Malmo and wended my way there but the lay-over was murder!. I'm sure Tallink's grand, too. You might just miss out on a bit of action!

    Enjoy the trip.

Hey, is this the so called "party boat" or "love boat" ?
Do you know the route of this boat? Does it go only from Sweden to Estonia or goes to other countries as well? When is the best period to travel there? (still planning my holidays :-)

    Thanks
