Should employers who discriminate on the ground of criminal record be prosecuted?

Fraud, Sexual assault, Mental Disorder related crimes, Serious Assault, theft, child abuse(all types)...

mostly it depends on the type of job. Not the type of crime...
For example: It doesn't really matter of someone has been convicted for pedophilia if the job they are applying for is to clean the inside of a nuclear reactor and there will be no children within a half mile radius...
Were as theft would come into play there as Uranium and Nuclear by-products fetch a health price in the open market ;)

How did you add "Mental Disorder related crimes" to the above list? Fair enough if the job title specificly needs the person not to have a particular condition or if the person is pathological. But why should criminal damage by someone suffering stress or depression be treated more harshly than ordinary criminal damage? Or if soemone was in a medically altered state and assaulted someone?

Of course, what about the 500,000 detected crimes every year. Soon everyone would be out of a job.
