UTV Problems with set up

    Hi Guys

I Signed up with UtvipXl when it first came out I have since Migrated to UTV BroadBand.
This is when my problems started. First off it took around 2 weeks to get my userid and password. I then rang utv (Friday) and asked when I would get my modem for DSL. They said that I should have it by monday. Monday came and went so I rang on tuesday only to be informed that I had selected that I did'nt want (This is a bit fishy as I sure don't remember selecting this) so fair enough I thought I went to Marx Computers and bought one for 65 squids.
Guess what happened today I recieved my USB DSL modem so I rang UTV about and now they want me to send it back to them. I think this is very stange as I have read that for 100 squids you get your USB modem and line enabled. I have paid the 100 squids so what am I paying this far just the line. I am seriously annoyed by this whole fiasco. Also they have charged a advance fee for my old utvipxl of 25 euros even though I wont be using this month. Guys do you think I should hold onto the modem and maybe sell it or will utv give me a rebate if I send it back to them.
    Thanks for reading
    Mick

If you payed for it, its yours surely. If you didn't then you should send it back. (or do they have to collect it? Isn't there a law that if they dont collect within 6 months its yours legally or something? i aint too good with laws :p )

I dont have UTVipXL but im assuming theres a minimal contract length and that if you havent reached it you'd have to pay the remaning months in the contract. Not sure how this works if you upgraded to their DSL.

Also anyone else have these kind of problems and what do u think I should do.

I dont think I should have to return it as UTV stated I had not ordered one. What was I meant to do in this case, anyway I have been using marx card for around 2 weeks now so I cant really return it. UTV as far as I'm concerened are in the wrong here I have sent them a mail explaining the situation to them (also rang them) so I will keep you guys informed off how it goes. By the way I hold no grudge against UTV for this it just seems to be crossed wires. They still in my opinion offer a very good service.

I had a similar problem, Mick, although it's sorted now. I got my activation email but no modem - turned out they had me down as "no modem required", and it took another week to sort out.

Anyone who specifies no modem get a €30 refund, so if you have not received that, the modem is yours.

The UTV guy is Martin Lyons, Technical Director, and you'll get him at martin@u.tv or 048 90818504. If your current efforts don't work out, get on to him.

You own the modem seeing as how you paid your 99 euros

There does not seem to me to be much point in keeping the modem if you have one already unless you have another use for it.

As a constant critic of UTV since I went Clicksilver (having had great service with VIP) I certainly dont think you should have to pay postage on it for the return seeing as they made the original mistake so if you do return it make sure they cover the postage and get your refund or credit ( I know its a minor point but its more a point of principle with me:) They messed up my modem delivery too _ I asked them to deliver it to work as I am not at home during the day and in spite of me ringing them again and confirming that they had the correct delivery address on record they still delivered it to my home address!

As regards the broadband service to me they are a pale shadow of their former selves.
