    You're not paying €90 for the modem, that's what they charge to enable your line. The modem is free, you could refuse it if you want, but you'll still pay €90 for the installation charge.

    That's one less question I'll have to ask when I ring them tomorrow, but they say that they're 'lending' u the modem

    Yeah. It remains the property of iol the whole time. The only reason it's free is because you gotta give it back to them if you ever leave them.

    I was looking through the utv broadband faq, they don't seem to mention much about modems, do they have their own too?
    How much is their connection fee?

    The installation charge is the same for everyone cause they're just reselling the same eircom package, but some ppl on the boards have said that UTV will knock off a few euro (€25 I think, not sure tho) if you don't want to take their modem. Otherwise it's the same 'on loan' deal as IOL.
