Sounds like a bit of a prick.

He's right, these arnt home systems but work systems. Why does an accountant need a web browser? Answer, unless theres some kind of web based package, they dont. The computers are ment to be tools to allow them to carry out thier jobs. Stripping down the installation means that the install will run under a cheaper system.

Same kind of rule applies across the board, do the IT staff really need scribus and The Gimp? No but the marketing people do. Those same marketroids dont need etherpeek and nmap and so on.

    Best,

    Ben

Yeah if you're going to keep using it, please spell it properly, I didn't even read the rest of the post out of disgust.

    That is all.

I'm failing to see here how Microsoft are using linux...

The company that microsoft are "purchasing" bandwith from are using linux.

What next ? "Bill Gates's hair dresser of 10 years has turned to using Linux" who cares

I'm surprised you havn't used this chance to remind everyone how MS screwed up the hotmail migration from BSD to Win2K

the bsd to 2k migration was years back ..
first few months of win2k release if i remember..

any type of large scale migration like that is bound to hit problems..
especially on the scale of hotmail!!

    cut them some slack..

hotmail wasnt down at all during the migration..
if it was, wasnt noticed by many of major news agencies or tech firms..

    Errr...No to your first request.

And as for Hotmail being down, it was down for two days and noticed by all the major tech channels. Also on more than one occasion since then its crashed, showing an Apache error message rather than ISS.

OSS, making it easier for pigopolists to fool their victm^H^H^H^H^H customers.

BenH can we get this out of the way now as we have plenty of people who can post linux fan boy jokes.

Have you anything intelligent to add to the forum ?
if not can you keep these petty jokes on a board where they belong.

    e.g. www.linux4kidz.com

Not troll related, its just the arguement the BSD crowd _allways_ have in reserve. Thanks to the SCO situation their bringing it out more and more.

Ben what is all this BSD crowd ? who are they ? where are they ?
You have no idea what "crowd" I belong to so please don't make assumptions.

I have nothing against Linux or Windows for that matter everything has it's place. We've had all the mines bigger than yours arguments before the holy wars..it's boring let it go.

It's users like you that make me dislike the Linux community throwing around the pom poms waving the flag yet probably give nothing to the community on a personal level.

get of the stage mate we've seen this show too many times before

Apologies, given your responses to the BSD better than linux thread I assumed that you were a BSD user.

Agreed, I apologise for my love of cheap shots and one liners.

On this point I'm going to refer you back to the opening paragraph of your response. You have no idea of my involvement in the Linux community, and to be honest unless your heavily involved in Thin Client and Linux in Education, you probably never will.

    Hence "probably"

I am, and a user of many other os's
