Mens body hair...

I'm getting increasingly paranoid that my body hair (nearly all over my body by now) is a complete no no for women. Am I right or just paranoid?

Any way that I can stop this hair from growing or possibly get rid of it in an unfeminine way (if you know what I mean).

    HF.

Apparantly women find hairy backs really off - so much so a mate of mine had his waxed! I even got photos of the event...

But other than that, I think you're good.

I've got a hairy one at home and I think he's great!

He's quite sensitive about it but it's part of him and I love him so I love his hairy bits!

Back waxing is apparantly very sore, and lots of people come out in a rash afterwards, when the hair starts to grow back it's quite sore and will poke out your clothes, that's sore for other people!!

/me goes to get his chest waxed....

    nah, not a chance.

50% hate it, 50% love it.

That's odd, aren't there less nerves on the back? I always thought there was less sensitivity in peoples' backs...

/me contemplates the hairs on his shoulders...

My Fiancee loves me being hairy, hairy chest, beard etc etc. Seems to be down to the personal tastes of the woman. But no way would I wax....geez, just a tad bit much torture.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,152 ✭✭✭dazberry

I lasted 2 rips of waxing on my back and pleaded no more. Ok, I wasn't all that motivated to get my back waxed anyway, but geez it does sting. The sting goes away, but it remains hot for a while. Perhaps I should have been drunk beforehand. All that happened was that I'd a bald spot :( on my back that went pimply and hair grew back within a week or two. My back carpet now is back to its old self :D

Don't worry about it. Women expect men to be hairy. It would be really gross if you shaved your back and stubble started growing back.

Yes, but when they say things like "Christ, you could give Austin Powers a run for his money!", you have to accept the slight possibility that they might not be perfectly comfortable with it... :(

Do they? If thats the case, why do men expect women to be hair free?

Hair in moderation is ok. A jungle on the back is wrong though.

    GACK!!!!

Hair on the back is not good, a bit of hair alright but not good when there is loads of hair on the body and a bald shiny head

if she says that, then swap her for another one, plenty more out there. Why should you feel sensitive about something you can't do anything about when there are loads of girls out there who will find it attractive.

What's sugaring like? Heard waxing is very painful and I can't stand pain :) What about these hair removal creams?

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 11,362 ✭✭✭✭Scarinae

Personally I hate hairiness in guys, its gross... But hey there are girls who love it... If you do decide to wax I'd recommend taking two painkillers before your appointment, it helps so much its unbelievable. The first time I got my legs waxed I was in sooo much pain, it was horrible, but after painkillers it just stings a little. Hair removal creams are messy and smell bad, and if you leave it on for too long can give you a rash so make sure you follow the instructions! However they are preferable to shaving because the hair grows back finer and it lasts a little longer. Waxing would be best of all cos it lasts a few weeks, and to stop those red bumpy things (which are actually ingrown hairs) you should exfoliate your skin

Shave. It's cheaper, and you get to play with incredibly sharp blades.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 649 ✭✭✭strawberry

If you're going to use hair removal cream on your back you're going to need someone to do it for you, unless you're one of those people who can bend themselves into a jar. I'd say it's a better bet than shaving though because do you really want to be shaving your back every morning before work?

    How about hairy arses?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,639 ✭✭✭Laguna

Hairy arses ey, the old forest in the valley of doom? naw man, who gives a **** if you're hairy, i think it'd be personally abnormal if us guys weren't a little hirstute, i mean jesus, that's the whole point of the difference bewteen men and women isn't it? girls are meant to be smooth, soft and squishy, guys are mean't to be rough, hard and hairy!

    body hair..... yum!

theres nothing worse than a man who waxes more than you so.

Like everything its all about taste some girls will love it some will hate it... personally i love it! keep it. If you are getting rid of it get it done professionally cause otherwise it will hurt like hell!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,922 ✭✭✭Dave

I've had no complaints. Girls don't like hair generally. Women seem to. My girlfriend loves it.

what is wrong with you people!?. Talk about being sold into whatever seems to be the fashion at the moment. Wax it, laser it, nip it, tuck it – ye are human beings all of ye, it’s natural, so what if you’re hairy?
Do you seriously think you are going to find the woman of your dreams, settle down and live happily ever after cos you plucked a few hairs? I don’t think so, be hairy and be proud, you’re a man after all goddamnit!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 131 ✭✭mudflapgirl

Personally.......I like it....I didn't used to I used to hate it. The hubby on the other hand seems to have a bit of problem with it. He's not that hairy, nice chest rug, virtually no back hair (about 10 hairs) and a nice collection of neat, cultivated facial hair. He had shaved his head, for like the last 5 years with one year of having it longish) but decided to grow it again.
Ok so having a big smig (goatie really) is great, his moustache is grand, I don't mind his hairy chest and the few hairs on his back don't bother me - he on the other hand, makes me pluck the few on his back and shaves his chest once summer comes along (so it was last week) and spends the summer prickling me cause it's stubbley the whole time.
He seems to have a real thing about his body hair. So sometimes it's not the woman who has a problem - it's the man.

Most women don't care, if they do they'll say it :)

I think this has to be the most important thing to be said of Men and Body Hair.
Personally speaking my gf MUST pluck my eyebrows once or twice a month to avoid the mono-brow effect. She likes the Hairy me. Just distrusts my eyebrow. The rest of my body could be mistaken for a wolly mammoth.

Trends in Fashion recently are leaning toward men getting all sorts of waxing and moisturising and treatments and the like. My girlfriend would be susptible to asking me to do the same from time to time. But I think spectacleinrock about sums up my own 2cents on the matter.

As for Male Hair removal. Stick to grooming and not removal. My Crack of Doom needs the odd trim and taming from time to time. So too does my Man Bush(otherwise things might get lost in the Bush) :).

    Groom don't Remove

An ex boss of mine use to shave his hands .... he had a neat hair line at his wrists ....

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 63 ✭✭seaghdhas

I know I'm not the only guy to have slight face fuzz under the eyes apart from the obvious stubble. But some guys don't spot it and they only shave the obvious stubble. And there's a hair-line halfway up their cheeks. Granted I've only noticed on younger guys, but all the same these would be the same guys who are liklier to preach on personal hygeine.
