That is one very nice Bargain!!
I seem to remember that Aldi is very similar to Lidl (also German) and is the biggest pc reseller in Germany because they offer good specs and no one can beat them in price, maybe Lidl is trying the same trick.

    Nitrox,

Aldi sell Medion* german made computer systems as specials, unbeatable specs and Medion is a very good company for back up, repairs or replacement during warranties.

I purchased my Medion over two years ago, and had to go online to Medion UK for technical help with my DVD-CD Rom drawer sticking, not their fault but mine.

However, within 48hours I had a call from their contract service engineers in Ireland, and they were at my home about an hour later and replaced the complete DVD-CD ROM completely Free of charge. Thats German manufacturers business efficiency for you.

I now understand that Aldi will shortly be offering a Medion Laptop shortly and I will be in the queue.

    Say no more.

    P.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

AFAIK that's a NForce1 mobo. Had the MSI one in my previous PC. Bit outdated now but excellent value PC for that money :)

Sorry to bring bad news on this offer.

But it seems to only apply for a new store opening in Waterford City this week.

New Ross has back to school specials, maybe it is just Waterford

I live 100 yards from the one opening in Waterford and got a 4 page brochure with the specials and it is for sale here, doesn't say only Waterford though.

PC is not that good a deal. Buying a mouse and Keyboard for 10 Euro each, plus a case and PSU from PC Superstore for 60 Euro (they're not bad have 2 machines based on them), then buying identical parts from Komplett, I can put the same machine together for about 460 Euro (inc Delivery). So nothing worth writing home about. Sure I have to build it myself, shock horror, 2 hours of my life wasted.

Probably get software with that machine though.

Are there any other offers in the Waterford store this week? Is there anyehere to find theri brochure online?
BTW I think the PC is good value, esp to someone new to PCs

No OS mentioned on the AD.

The only other item of interest is a rather neat looking Typhoon USB Pen Drive, 128MB, 29.99

That sounds interesting. Any idea if that's just a Waterford special or available everywhere?

It looks like it's Waterford only to coincide with the opening of the new store

Boo. Down with this sort of thing.

Queue early. I wouldn't turn up after 7:30 if you're after a PC. Pointless getting out of bed at all if you're not reasonably sure of getting one. Make it 7 then. Staff turn up at 7 for stocking things but if they're running a ticket system they probably won't hand them out till 8.

There where 37 PCs, they had finished handing out tickets for them about 8:50.

    God no....
here's a slightly better spec pc AND it's cheaper AND including Windows XP Professional (Which cost me about €140 separate)
If you want to install your own Operating system, then deduct €140 from the price)

(Probably works out the same price when you include delivery )

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/cl.asp?bn=10626

But, you can customise the PC online, and add lots more....

You realise that Lidl spec is for a PC from two years ago, don't you?
