One piece of advice that Ive heard from a few people travelling in India..

When in the bigger cities or towns that are on the typical tourist trail, if they find out you speak english, you will be harassed everywhere you go, from trying to you to buy stuff to getting you take their taxi or begging for food and money..

So when asked do you speak english act as if you cant understand them or you have very bad broken english and when asked where you come from just say Malta... they have no idea where that is and as soon as they hear that they just walk away..

Apparently that worked a treat for a mate of mine who spent 2 months travelling through India... :D
