    heyho,

Righto, I have a mac here OS 8.6 G3. I have a brand spanking new 40Gb harddrive as a slave on the computer and its mounted onto the desktop. My plan is to use the 40Gb drive as the new and only harddrive in the machine. If i want to make an exact copy of my current harddrive what do i do?

I 'think' that all I have to do is boot to a 8.6 cd or a 9.1 cd, and then drag the current master harddrive icon on the destop onto the icon for the 40Gb harddrive... is that it?

Norton Ghost will "ghost" any hd regardless of os.

$hite, I did'nt know that. I have nortan ghost, didnt know it could copy mac os file system. Anyway, I copied the old harddrive onto the new harddrive. Only thing is that when you open the harddrive up on the desktop, there is one folder and within that one folder is the sysfolder, applications etc

but its working, so I'm happy

There is a Free proggy that will clone your drive under OS X and you can then boot from it i.e. make a clone of your ols system drive onto your new drive.

It's called Carbon Copy Cloner, its freeware or cardware or something and it works a treat.

    Hope this helps
