just wondering if anyone knows a common routine that can be used for a beginner?

I am interested in getting into lifting, but id like to know the ins and outs of the programs before i get started, like : Whats the average time it takes before you can see a result? How many reps should i do? How demanding will this be of my time?

    Cheers

I am new to this as well so what I do is workout four days a week and do splits i.e. arms and back one day shoulders and chest the next then repeat on the next two days.

I start at x weight x12, heavier x10 and heavier again x8 in all exercises and it usually takes about an hour/ hour 15 to complete the execises in the split.

I have been working out for 8 months and gain has been modest, but then I think thats down to my diet (not eating as much as I should and no supplements to my diet either). I started working out to build bigger biceps and oddly my tri's and my shoulder muscles have seen the biggest gains.

I have never done warm up sets, but methinks its time to start judging by the Jaks comments on warm up sets.

Hope thats been of some help.
