Kernel Panics...

    Right quick question..

    How does one deal with Kernel Panics on boot from Red Hat systems. Have looked in google but cannot find much information a point in the correct direction would be helpful...

    thats a kernel crash basically. So you just asked the linux equivalent of what do I do when windows crashes.

    Check out the output from just before the panic. See if it says it can't do something, or if there are no error messages see what it was just doing.

    Unfortunately you'll often only see output for the parts of the boot that worked, and it'll panic before it outputs what it's panicing on. So if you can see the same version booting correctly on another machine you may get a better idea of exactly what part it's oops'ing on.

    Depends what's making it crash, which version you are using and the hardware you are attempting to install it on.

    An i686 optimised distro, won't install on a 386 etc.
