if you are just after buying a car with no tax and the car is not in your name yet (which means you cant tax it)

is there no way you can drive it until its in your name then.?

Dont worry about no tax, when the ownership papers reach you
you just fill out the tax-renewal form and back date it to the start of the month and fill in the arrears (if more than one month has passed since last taxed) which for the private motorist is only one months road tax if I remember right. The cops wont "do" you but they may well want you to present the details when you get the car taxed....

    Mike.
