My IOL BB line is now active (according to the people in IOL), and I am trying to connect using a Thomson 510 V4 modem/router and I am having difficulties. Can someone could give me the Idiots Guide to connecting to IOL BB using a 3rd party modem please? I am currently getting a modem not plugged in message which is not the case as the modem is plugged into the microfilter.

    Post your config. up.
What's saying modem not plugged in?

The modem configuration software reported that the modem wasn't plugged in. The problem is that the modem/router has a default IP entered on it (factory settings) but I won't know what the IOL settings are until I install the IOL modem, which I would rather not do.

Why is the default IP a problem?
The settings have been posted loads of times, it's the RADSL one I assume?
vpi 8, vci 35, encapsulation PPPoE/LLC, CHAP authentication.

    IP 138.0.0.10

Would IOL being down cause a modem not plugged in message?

Can you access the router or ping it?
Is your PC on 138.0.0.x address?

Ok, I can access the routers web interface ONLY while connected to the internet via the IOL USB modem  I can't access the web interface offline. Bit of a catch 22 there as I need to access it offline to connect it. As far as I can tell there are a few issues at work here:

    1) I am an eejit
    2) The router is using PPPoA and I don't know how to change it to PPPoE. This involves an INI file I reckon. Is there one floating around with IOL settings?
    3) I need to know why my speedtouch router web interface can't be accessed offline. This could be due to reason 1.
    4) I know that there are VPI, VCI, etc. settings but I cant see anyway of doing that with this router. The INI file comes into play here, as does point 1.

Any help that anyone can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.
