Can Eircom do this???

    A friend of mine was looking to upgrade his Eircom ISDN to Broadband. He chose to go with Netsource but they quoted him 90 days before Eircom would downgrade his line from Digital to Analogue.
    Fair enough he said..too long.

    So he rang Eircom directly and asked how long would it take to change his line. Again he was quoted 90 days.

    So he asked how long would it take to change the line if he was upgrading it to the Eircom Broadband package.
    10 days was the answer he got!!

    Surely this is against the regulations in favouring their own package over a competitor. I know BT got their knuckles severely rapped in the UK for similar practices.

    Well he signed up with Eircom for the one year contract because he reckons its the only way he'll get it in the short term, but what action should he take??

    He has to complain to Netsource, quoting names in Eircom and dates, etc etc.

    You are right in saying that Eirom are favouring themselves in this respect that is against the wholesale agreement.

    He should have the details in with Netsource.

    a) Get an order into Netsource now.

    b) Get Netsource to activate the complaint to Comreg the moment that the Eircom downgrade is complete, then he should have his downgrade to analogue along with the Netsource DSL in about 10 days ..

    c) Comreg wil listen to Netsource before they listen to your mate.
