    Hi all,

I have Red Hat 8 on my PC.

I'd like to know how you know what is already installed, how to remove it or how to update it.

For instance, there's Java enabled, I d like to install the last release, so how do I make sure I have removed everything from the current version, and where are the new files going to be?

    You got it: I'm a noob! :)

I really liked the fact that it took 30 mn for Linux to be installed, and I didn t need any drivers or so.

    Thanks for your help,

    Zf

I'm a bit a noob myself so take this advice with a pinch of salt. seeing as you're using Red Hat 8 you could try in a terminal:

    rpm -qa | grep java

this should return all java stuff (possibly with version numbers)

    to uninstall try

    rpm -e <filename>

check the "man rpm" page first.

again, being a newbie myself it'd be better to try other peoples advice first.

You can use the RedHat Package management tool to remove or add programs. If you are using KDE afaik it is under the System Sub Menu.
