This is a series set as a homage to Sherlock Homes in a Fantasy/Victorian world. The plot revolves about an aloof detective in the Holmes mode, with a charming aide who is not Dr. Watson. Nicely written by Mark Waid with some rich clear artwork, only a trifle static.

Just read Waid's Empire (#0) the other week actually, I thought it was very good. His work on Fantastic Four is supposed to be the best in years on the comic too. Pity Marvel chucked him off it, really.
