6 day week, 28hr days

First time poster please be gentle,

    A six day week,
    Days being 28 hours long,
Three days a week you work, you gotta work 12hrs a day to get a 36hour week in, this kinda sucks alittle, but hell a work day is pretty much useless for the rest anyway. You can still have 16 free hours in your average work day. But it is showered in other advantages,

1 - three days work, three days off a week every week
2 - and your days off are all 28hrs long
3 - We can abolish wedensday, the limbo day
4 - Everyone can have monday off, without affecting productivity.
5 - Your sleeping patterns dont sync up with daytime and nighttime, but hey thats kinda cool too.

I hav'nt put the theory to test yet, but soon, very soon.

    Mot.

    welcome to boards
good idea in theory but it could never work in reality as you couldnt tell the moon universe etc that youve changed to a 28hr day and they better follow suit.

    No No No.

    No-one likes Mondays, right?

    Abolish Monday.

So now we work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, right?

Wrong. Because we might as well wrap up for the weekend early. Say, Thursday evening.

So now we work Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, right?

    Wrong.

We need to break up the week.

    Abolish Wednesday.

So now we work Tuesdays and Thursdays.

But, an hour lunch ( in my case, half an hour) is just feeble.

So, I say from twelve to two is lunch.

But no-one wants to start at nine. So lets say.....eleven.

And no-one wants to finish at five. So lets say...three.

So now we work Tuesday and Thursday, from 11 to 3, with a two hour break.

    Vote Silverfish. Thank you.

Didn't labour try that in the 1970's? :)

Why not just keep it as it is and work 12 hours a day 3 days a week and then you'd have FOUR free days?

Alternatively make the week 24 days long each consisting of 7 hours and work just over 5 days per week leaving nearly 19 days
    free?

Whatever way you look at it you're just kidding yourself I'm afraid to say.

Why change the system that you already have in Ireland? The relaxed pace of life in Ireland is very difficult to adjust to at first, but once you get the hang of it - its pretty easygoing:

No one does anything at work on Monday except talk about what they did for the weekend. Also, no one achieves anything on friday because they say, might as well wait untill monday.

So Tuesday wednesday and Thursday are your "get things done days". But hold on. No one does anything first thing in the morning - and of course theres always a "breakfast break" so you might as well wait untill 1100 before you ask anyone to do anything. and then Lunch has that magical way of being at a minimum of 1 hour long but not alway starting at noon, sometimes it starts at 1. So you might as well cancel all calls for two hours from 12 - 2 just to be sure. And of course theres the afternoon teabreak to look forward to.

So that leaves us with tuesday wednesday and thursday from 1100 to 1200 and 200 - 300 for a grand total of 3 hours per work week to get anything done.

    Why mess with perfection?

You have to go out drinking on a Monday because it's the first day of the week to celebrate the first day of the week.
You have to go out drinking on a Tuesday because you got such a hangover from Mondays massive session you need a hair of the dog.
You have to go out drinking on a Wednesday because it's the famous middle-week day, now that's special.
You have to go out drinking on a Thursday because it's only a day before Friday which is the end of the week really isn't it?
You have to go out drinking on a Friday because it's the last day in the working week, lets party!
You have to go out drinking on a Saturday because, well Saturday is the going out day - the proper weekend night is a Saturday.
You have to go out drinking on a Sunday because it is the last day of the weekend, get your drinks in while you have time.
    ad infinitum...

UK Labour? Not quite, or at least not for that reason. Miners strike - electricity supply problems - dropped to a three day working week to enable power rationing while the strike went on.

But if you abolish Monday, Tuesday becomes the new Monday so you'll have to abolish Tuesday as someone else will come up with the super neat idea of destroying another day. And this vicious cycle will continue until we all cease to exist. This will be the death of us all, mark my word children.

Actually your biological day (if you weren't aware of day and night) is about 20 hours.

That would be kinda cool, but, odd :)

Best idea I ever came up with for changin the calender was add a 13th month, it'd be so much simpler to remember, then every month would have exactly 4 weeks in each without all these extra added days, so much simpler, for the leap year, add an extra day to the chrimbo hol's :)

ok, but the whole leap year thing is very complicated. Like its every 4 years, but not on the 100th year but then again on the 400th year but not every 2 millenium, or something rediculous like that. Anyhow it sucks, something should be done. :)
