Just wondering does anyone know where you can buy the die cast car models that you actually build yourself ?

Lets face it , it's the only way most of us will get to look and at and admire our favourite motors.

Would help if anyone knew anywhere good in Galway that sells them .

    Thanks

p.s I used to one of those kids who had boxes and boxes of "dinkies" , come to think of it whatever happened to all of those ???

The Scale Modelling Forum on racesimcentral has some serious kit on it people have built.

Your parents gave them away to smaller kids that probably already had hundreds of their own. These kids probably failed to appreciate them and bashed them off each other.

There's a shop in Cork at the end of Oliver Plunkett St that sells them (as well as model trains and so on), can't think of anywhere in Galway off-hand.

I used to burn, hammer and bury mine. There's probably still some out in the back garden. I'd dig them up, but I can't remember where I put the cat.

Theres a model shop on the parnell place end of oliver plunkett st (couple of doors down from the internet cafe).

For R/C stuff, you might want to have a look in that place on washington st. Cant remember what its called but its on the left side of the street as you go towards UCC. Its a couple of doors down from what was PFH. Looks decent enough, I must call in there myself someday when I have the money for a helicopter.

I've passed that place (can't remember what it's called either) and it looks as though they've a good selection in there. Must call in one of the days (not that I'm down in Cork too often though)

Thanks lads. Must pop into those places sometime, have a poke around. Might start with an R/C car, the heli might be a bit much for my first go. :)

    Any R/C clubs in Cork?

    some hazy details once again...

I know there are a few R/C car clubs, they used to hold racemeets around the city & county. Not sure if they still do but I'm sure if there are any such clubs still in existance, the guy in the R/C shop will know all about them.

Theres a couple of guys around Cork that import & sell racing car kits but I havent got a clue who they are.

Sorry the details are so vague...
