    Well what do ye think?

I can't wait for this one. Hopefully a win at home will give the gypsies the confidance to go to Norway and believe they can go through to meet Deportivo. As long as they don't concede one and score one or two themselves they could do it.

I'm going for a 2-0 win for the Gypsies;)

Is this going to be on TV anywhere? I heard that RTE were showing the Celtic match instead

I know it sounds like a redundant statement but we cannot afford to conceed a goal on wednesday. Even if we fail to score there is always a chance that we could snatch an away goal ourselves and that might be enough. Of course a few goals in dalymount would set us up nicely

1-0 to Bohs. I was at the Dundalk ( :( ) vs. Bohs match there yesterday and Bohs totally whipped them off the pitch. They do seem to have a lapse in concentration every so often though. Lets hope Rosenborg don't take their chances when it does happen. But I'd say on home soil Bohs will win, because they definately do have the talent to do it.

Not to put a dampener on your whole dream of Boh's actualy winning, but I'd have to got for a "infinity" - 0 win to Rossenborg, They have more money, better home league, CL experience, good players... need I go on?

Have to agree with the above sentiment, maybe a lucky deflection off the upright via the keepers' outstretched hand....means 1-1,but I doubt it!

really hate to say this but... the bohs are gonna looose soooooo bad!

i'd love them to get in to europe, and then shels to wipe their areses with them!

Although I really want them to win, Bohs are going to lose. Rosenborg actually have CL experience and alot more money, Bohs just won't be able to beat them. I predict 2-0 to Rosenborg

I agree, Boh's are going down. There's not much hope for them at all. I've seen Rosenberg play before , they're good.

I was on the bohs website there and they say that there is exclusive showing of the match in Frazer's, O'Connell St.

And there is a station on Satellite showing it... Here is a link to the stations website... http://www.knplogic.co.uk/sport/CL.html

Yeah, Frazers in O'Connell St. is showing the first. And TV3 Norway are showing the second (which should be accessible if you (or your pub) have an analogue satillite dish.

unlucky tonight. i thought the midfield (ryan and hunt especially) and the back (lynch was BRILLIANT!!) were good but Rutherford is a stocking!! and Crowe didn't do anything, except for one turn in the box.

rutherford must be licking the same stamps as Djimi Traore the amount of bambi on ice tricks he did.

its gonna be very hard for them away...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,006 ✭✭✭✭The Muppet

Not a bad performance . Bobby ryan was good. Agree with the comments on rutherford. Maybe next time they will wear studs
and get the result they need.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

I would'nt be too hard on Rutherford, he was'nt the only one falling over esp near the Burdocks fish and chips van! Why was'nt the grass cut?.

Crowe showed why he never made it at Wolves...or any other English club. The guy on the right wing (Ryan?) was exellent though.

At least I got the Score right! :p

    Mike.

ya bobby ryan was brillant he's got some real talent and if he's still a young lad(which i dont know) He could have a carrer in england how old is he ?

  • Moderators, Regional North East Moderators Posts: 12,739 Mod ✭✭✭✭cournioni

I was at the match and I would definately give Thomas Heary the Man of the Match. He was excellent. Bohs done well, they held Rosenborg to very few chances, and were unlucky with the goal (just not tall enough).

Ryan was very good but he gave the ball away a few times that could have been costly. Harkin and Keegan played well when they came on too. The less said about Rutherford and Crowe the better.

i thought they looked amatuerish (sp?).

that commentator made George Hamilton sound professional

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 20,346 ✭✭✭✭KdjaCL

Bohs didnt do enough to win that game and their poor league form carried over.
I was pissed of at them ,they are supposed to be the best team in Ireland and they were awful by their own and the EL standards.
Crowe did indeed prove why he never made it in England.
Doyle was non existent up front.

Granted Rosenborg were there to doa job and they were awful cant see them getting into CL this year.

Oh well now we need Scum No 2 and Derry to win their Euro ties to get those extra Uefa points.

I watched the first 30mins or so and found it fairly enjoyable. First ive seen of a LOI team in a couple years. Must watch the TV3 round up some time.

Pity about the final result :(

I'm sure the Shelbourne supporters won't be happy with those comments. The commentator was the Shels manager, Pat Fenlon!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,835 ✭✭✭StickyMcGinty

dont be bitchin about Pat Fenlon.... he is the manager of the EL league leaders at the mo.

RTE are poo though, they only paid €20,000 for the rights!! Bohs were robbed!

Oh yea and how we will enjoy watching them throw it away in style.
RTE are poo though, they only paid €20,000 for the rights!! Bohs were robbed!

The Bohus and other Nórd hoardings showed that a Norwegian tv station bought the rights off Bohs also and would have paid well for them.
Bohs would have let RTE have them cheaply to get exposure (250,000 watched it ) they were well paid by the Norwegian channel.

After watching bohs last nite I have a few things to say....
    - They were an embaressment to Irish Football .. Hoof it anywhere

    - They were lucky it was not more than 4 - 0 ( 5- 0 agg)

    - If they had of had the away leg 1st , they would not have got anything near the crowd they did at home and Rté would not have paid 20c for the rights... Overall I think they milked their Euro outing and were shown to be a mickey mouse outfit by a well organised / mature European team ... (even shels drew away to rosenburg and ended up 0 - 0 (3-1 agg)

I hope they learn from this and improve there football next time out. . . . It'd be nice to be proud of an irish team in europe , unfortunately that might not happen for a while ......

Agree fully with lizard king. Where are all the EL heads now w ho were trying to convince us that we would be just as entertained watching our home grown talent. I,ve seen better on the local park.

I think illl stick with utd for another season and review the situation then.

I think the phrase "an embarrasment tp Irish football" is a bit harsh. They were outclassed by a better, more experienced opposition. Remember the oppositoon has 8years experience at the top level playing the top sides. So that would imply that they are 8 years sharper on the pitch than Boh's even before the starting whistle blew. And for anyone that watched the game would realise that. Rosenburg were very sharp on the touch and quick to react to everything. Whereas Boh's were slower. Not that they were unfit or anything, but they lacked the sharpness that creates enough opening for a scoring chance.

Over the two legs I don't think they deserved to win it. They didn;t egt enough service from the wings which cut off one dimension straight away. In the first game Bobby Ryan did all the hard work via a dazzling display of skills but in the time he was on the pitch he sent two crosses into the box. On the opposite side Sparky Rutherford ran all night but he too lacked the killer touch. The exact same happened last night. Boh's had them on the rack for a period of the first half in but games but in the end the experience and sharpness paid dividends for Roosenberg in the end.

Bohs were awful against a poor team ,Rosenborg play in these qualifiers for a reason and its not because they are perceived as good.
They could barely make 2 or 3 passes without playing it out for a throw.
Bohs were a disgrace and are 4th from bottom in the EL for that very reason.

Last season they were superb and won the league well but this year EL and CL they have been awful.

    Me is pissed :(
