Do you guys consider John Turturro to be a good actor?

I have been thinking about this recently. I almost never see him mentioned when favorite actors are being talked about, so i want to know what you guys opinion is about him. Even when The Coen brothers are in the discussion, the main players always are Jeff Bridges, John Goodman or Steve Buscemi, but almost never him.
So do you people rate him as an actor, and if not, why?

    John Turturro is seriously class!
Dont think I could imagine Barton Fink, or Oh, Brother without him.

    Nobody ****s with the Jesus!

John Turturro is a superb actor. He brings an air of class to each and every film he is in. From Barton Fink to Mr Deeds to Collatoral Damage.

He is a really great actor....

    Barton Fink
    Quiz show
    The Big Lebowski
    Rounders
    O' Brother where art thou?
    The Luzhin Defence

I will always (in my own mind) typecast him as that furtive, wacky, slightly unbalanced character (as in the above movies)..

But of the above, his performances in The Big Lebowski and the Luzhin defence are the most memorable..

Always a pleasure to watch him on screen..

Krusty's list should be proof enough for anyone that the guy is a really great actor. None of those movies would have been the same without the guy. When I went to see Anger Management I'm sure I went "whayhey, Turturro!" when he appeared.

Yeah, great actor. Highly underrated. I'd say a lot of people wouldnt have a clue who you were talking about if you just named him, but if you showed them his picture they'd know right away.
Liked him in Clockers too, worked well as Keitel's (police) partner.

Yes, he is. He's probably not mentioned because he's not a big megastar. He mostly gets supporting roles and actors like that are not very often mentioned on best actors lists. It's just like Philip Seymour Hoffman. :D

Too right he's a good actor!

Check out the scene in Millers Crossing where he's out in the forest begging Gabriel Byrne for his life if you don't think so.

Also check out 'Do the Right Thing' and 'Five Corners' for more good performances by him.

John Turturro is a great actor. So very, very versatile..

...so versatile in fact, that I don't think he will ever really 'make it'. He changes his appearance and acting style so much, audiences would have a hard time recognising him from one film to the next.

IMO, he's destined to stay in the background making quality left-of-the-centre flicks... and thank fxck for that.

'You ready to be ****ed man? I see you rolled your way into the semis. Dios mio, man. Liam and me, we're gonna **** you up.'

Does anyone find that those scenes with 'The Jesus' are doubly funny purely because of Liam (his bowling partner) standing there saying nothing? You just keep thinking to yourself 'How on earth could those two guys actually know each other?' :) I think the fact that his name is Liam (of all things) just adds even more to it.
