Hi anyone who uses these excellent boards in the Blackrock area.

I can't see it named on any coverage maps specifically. Just wondered if any users are using BB services in that area - just a quick run down if you have time....

thanks for your help and keep up your excellent opinions...some really good debates go on here..

    Thanks.

I'm in Blackrock near the Priory exchange (I assume that's the one they hooked me up to). It's running fine for me at the moment.

Should have added I'm with IOLBB.

Thanks sarn, who you connected with and how long did you have to wait from time of asking for the access to actual logging onto the internet with BB.?

Im interesting more in your BB operator? Thanks for your help.

I will order the service now and get myself in the loop if it took u long to get connected.

IOL had a few teething problems. It took about 2 days to get my username and password and just over 24 working days to get my modem and connected. They said they had a backlog, normally it's 12 working days after you get your username.

Cool. I am moving into the blackrock area in September.

Gsand can you tell me what package you use and what modem you use. I have an idea of what I want, but just from someone who has been there, done that, I wouldn't mind some friendly advice please? I think I will go with netsource as well, the only gripe I have is that I have to pay for a modem but hey I have no problem with that.

    Thanks.

im on netsource soho package-512k connection-i have a speedtouch usb modem which i bought myself from the uk from friends over there as much cheaper.ny old usd modem is fine really-u just have to watch out for the ppoa vs ppoe issue-as netsource will only connect with ppoe and some modems come with ppoa software as default but this is fixed easily enough with a couple of files replaced from ny1 else with workin ppoe bb.

if you dont want to get your own modem you can buy from netsource but whils tits cheaper than eircom its still quite expensive.also id recommend doing a self installation as it saves 100euro and its v.easy.

    regards,gsand.

Oh yeah, i know that self installation takes about 3 minutes max. Ill sort out the modem. I might get one from america, cos I have friends over there.

Thanks for that advice on ppoe. It is so good to find out about this. I'm looking forward to it big time. No cap, home broadband.

One other thing, How long did it take for you to get the whole thing?

    Thanks gsands, thanks a million...

    Gsand,

I'm moving just off Carysfort Ave, near oblisk Rise. I have checked the line and it seems to be ok for broadband. I will buy my own modem.

I will go with Netsource only. I feel it is the only way to go. I have to have an Uncapped rate.

    Lets just hope now.!!!

    Thanks for you help.
