Error Message 1014

    I unplugged my DI4001NC box for the weekend but now when I turn it on (plug it in) I get error message 1014. From looking at the digitalspy forum archives it looks like its a network error. It was possibly caused by plugging out the unit for so long.

    My sanity can't face booking a service call so if anybody knows about this error or maybe how I can force a software download on the DI4001NC I appreciate it.

    I've had mine off for weeks at a time & almost every night and there's never a problem . :confused:

    It might only be coincidence the it has failed after I left it plugged out.

    Is your unit a DI4001NC?

    BTW I was looking at your thread on DS.

    I agree with dingdongpong, I wouldn't wait until wednesday week for them to visit you. Why should you pay for a service your not recieving for well over a week.

    I should get them to call earlier but I'm just sick of dealing with them.

    They have also reduced the installation fee to 32 Euro (half previous) so they are up to their teeth.

    I only have the service about 2 weeks. It actually took them a month an a half to set it up properly.

    I sent them a registered letter last week. I also sent copies to ComReg and Consumer Affairs. I'll post it here in a few days. Needless to say the service I got was brutal. Missed calls, promised calls, 1 faulty box, 1 box not setup correctly....

    Ordered digital at the end of May....First box installed June 7th....Digital TV operational July 9th....

    NTL called yesterday and replaced the box I had. The bloke made a quick attempt to fix the old unit by entering the frequency (which was correct anyway) but it did nothing.

    I think it is the same model. I didn't actually look underneath. I will later to be sure. It has the same front though.

    This time I think it was a brand new unit. It went through a few flash/memory tests before fully booting. The previous two units were probably re-distributed boxes.

    NTL actually installed a DI4010. It doesn't appear any different but I think it is slightly faster.

    Good to hear its working well. Is the software version any different on that box ??

    It could have been. I wasn't taking much notice. Is there another way other than going through the service menu to see the software version? I'm afraid to plug out the unit with the luck I've had.

    Yeah, just press the help button at the bottom of the remote & it comes up on screen.

    I've had three NTL boxes so far.....the second one defo was running version 5.29!

    tis the black one.....forget the model number. Now when I got it, it had version 5.29 already running on it. It only lasted 1 month before crashing and having to be replaced by a smililar model, but running 5.26.

    The new box I got has version 5.26. I thought the old unit had 5.29 but I couldn't be sure.
