    Anyone know answer to this..

I have a Dell Precision 410 wokstation with Dual processor mobo currently has Intel Pentium III 500MHz/100/512 Slot 1 CPU.

Anyone know if this mobo will take the top end slot 1 cpus..either of these two..Intel Pentium III 750MHz/100 Slot 1 CPU or Intel Pentium III 733MHz/133 Slot 1 CPU(do they go higher?).

    Cheers.

According to the specs for it on Dell's website, a 700MHz PIII is the fastest processor supported. This was probably written before the 750MHz one came out though, and the specs were probably never updated as to what the board could take because they just wouldn't have sold that model with anything faster. The motherboard does only support a 100MHz front-side-bus though, so if you put in a 733MHz cpu, it would operate at 550MHz (100x5.5 instead of 133x5.5) and this may not work reliably either.

You might want to wait before doing anything though, in case Captain Midnight or SouperComputer want to correct me first!
