Why are you buying a DVD recorder and a DVD player?

Cause he wants to watch pre-recorded Dvd's and the recordings he makes on the recorder in Pal progressive scan on his plasma. Better picture and less jaggies etc etc.

Reckon you should get a projector though. €1950 for a Panasonic AE300 from Komplett and about €200 for an 8ft screen!

Have a look at this thread

    Panasonic DMRE50 DVD recorder:
Pros: Excellent picture quality in XP and SP mode, chasing payback/time slip, features
Cons: No digital audio input, no 5.1 audio recording
The Bottom Line: The E50 is a major improvement over a VCR. It has DVD-like picture quality for recording

    Gentlemen

A hearty thanks for your comments.

BTW cannot part with the plasma for projector.
The Plasma quality is the dogs B on the Hitachi.

    Thanks

I wouldn't go for a plasma. a big screen TV (for news and soaps) and a projector (for movies).

Nice AV receiver - good choice
    Speakers I would prefer B&W 600 series.
