Just thought it might be helpful if some peolple on the site would help each other out in searches for clubs by putting any information bout clubs in your area for others interested in starting a style. It would help everyone if we could get some sort of small listing started.Just a thought.

But if you want to enter any details of clubs please feel free to do so:ninja:

Co. Galway. I haven't gone in ages, due to plenty of things, but my style of karate has clubs in Ballinasloe (St. Brigid's, funnily enough:) ), Laurencetown(sports hall), New Inn (sports hall), Galway city(Raven house, I think), Kiltormer(Sports hall),Loughrea(sports hall), and I believe there's a brance in Laois or Portlaoise, forget where though.

Excellent people, sound folks all. Met them, drank with them, fought them..:)

Erm i'll try to remember some of my older clubs... don't blame me if they aint there anymore. All Dublin btw :)

    Area > addy > Style > Instructor.

Tallaght > St. Martins primary school > Tae Kwon Do > Martin somethingorother (long time ago).
*From what I can remember this club was badly organised, I don't know if it's still their but i'd choose elsewhere.

Templeogue > St. Bishops Galvans Primary School > Kenpo Karate > George Maughn

*I liked this club, it's was more aimed at streetfighting and was he was quite a good instructor.

Ballyboden > Community Centre (beside Church) > Shotokan Karate > Brendan Perry

*This was without a doubt my most influencial instructor/sensei to date. This chap kept me very very interested in Karate for som many years. I would reccomend this club to anyone looking for a good place to train.

Clondalkin > ... Opposite Molloys and Bike world (you can't miss the banner) > Kickboxing > Elia

*I currently train here, it's a full time Club as in open all the time. Childrens classes, adult begginer classes etc. The club is aimed more towards compotitions (semi contact) an excellent club if your looking for fitness as a 3 month fitness course is required before you get to do the funstuff ;)

    Hope it helps.

Mike Carrol teaches a Jiu Jitsu/Judo/Striking/Groundwork class in his full time academy in St. Alphonsus Street, give him a shout.

Wasa Kai is the name of the Academy, he has a shop etc. there.

There's a Bujinkan dojo in (upper) Rathmines, which several boards posters - myself included - are members of.

When you say you don't want to use sticks monkey, could you be alittle more specific? I ask since we do use "sticks", among a great deal many other things.

Hey thanks for all the info

The reason I said no sticks is I would like to do a martial arts which improves fitness and basically sticks to using hands/feet etc. I think I would be more interested in that rather than something that uses weapons of sorts. Although I have never really done either....

p.s I clicked on the website above to take a quick look. Is the guy who runs it (on the front page) related to the LA Bloods/Crips or any other gangs for that reason, its just he seems to be bigging up the WESTSIDE :)

Ah, ok. Then bujinkan may not quite be what you're looking for. We do both unarmed & armed training so perhaps you'd like it, but then again, perhaps not.

if you're referring to this, the guy on the front left is Hatsumi sensei/soke (I'm a little unsure which title to use), Grandmaster of the Bujinkan. I doubt he's in any westside gangs :p

I did Kung Fu for a year during my first year in college, but I got distracted and stopped going. Frankly, it wasn't very well run, there was no organisation and there was no guarantee that the guy in charge would turn up from week to week. The final nail in the coffin was that there was no grading at the end of the year - I was fed some bull**** about "not being here for the belts, but for yourself".That's all well and good, but I was really looking forward to getting a belt.

    Anyway, Rant over now.

I'm in Cork now and I would really like to start Kung Fu again.

Does anybody know of any Kung Fu clubs in Cork?
I am aware of many Tae Kwon Do and Karate clubs, but I prefer Kung Fu.

Can somebody please give me the name and number of a few trainers of clubs.
    It would be much appreciated

doesnt take on younger kids see, so it's never really going to be huge. 14+ is the age group.

Try Paul Morans club in Blackrock. Website

Excellent club. Aside from teaching solid kung fu they also train some grappling with our supercoach John Kavanagh (www.irishbjj.com) and Paul is an excellent boxer. Two Thumbs Up!
