Kind of. There was a film made in 1992 called 'Return of Spinal Tap' which basically consisted of a specially performed gig in London by the band interspliced with a series sketches featuring the band revisiting their English roots.

FYI, words cannot describe how terrible this piece of filmmaking is (both in narrative and sheer lack of humour). It should probably not be viewed by anybody or ever spoken of by anyone who loved the original film.

Hmmm, too late now I suppose :(

    Pure class alright!

    After the Stonehenge incident...
"I don't care what the napkin says...fúck the bloody napkin!" :D

Other good rock n' roll movies in my humble opinion would be:-

Detroit Rock City (love this film)
Dazed And Confused (more for the music than an actual rock n' roll tale)
    Almost Famous
and in a sorta round-a-bout way High Fidelity
Haven't seen Rock Star yet though, meant to be pretty good (?)

I watched that for the first time ever about a week ago, one of the best lines in the film has to be...
If you look closly you can see that this amp is special, look - it goes to 11, so when we want that extra lil give on the amps, we can do just that!

So why not make 11 10, then make the volume on the amp louder to accomidate the 11

    **confused look**
Yea, but this goes to 11

    Or
    We sound record in dawbly

    Yea dublins a good location

"the record label want to put the cover in for testing"
"testing? what are they going to give it to ****ing monkeys or something?"

"They think the cover is sexist"

    "whats wrong with being sexy?"

    and

"OK, weve had to cancel Boston - but dont worry, its not a big college town"

God theres so many other classic bits, great film.

the DVD version is excellent - their commentary track is like a whole new movie in itself. the boys do the commentary 'in character'

missed one of their gigs in NY (The Paramount) a few years ago (heard about it the next day)

it's funny as fvck if you've been in a band

What would you do if you didnt have Rock 'n Roll?
Well as long as theres still sex and drugs i could live without the Rock 'n Roll
    I love that line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,437 ✭✭✭Crucifix

Did anyone notice in one of the outakes, one of the chaps says "You had me at hello".
This line was made famous years later in Jerry McGuire. Coincidence, I think not!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,666 ✭✭✭charlie_says

I love the line when the bass player is getting interviewed and he is asked about the two guitarists, he goes ( I can't remember it word for word) to say its great to be caught in the middle of two such create people. One is like fire and the other is like ice, he equates himself being in the middle of them well i suppose i'm like warm water:D :D

Ruined the quote but if you have seen it you know what I mean....

A lot of the gags are based on real life stories.

The Stonehenge bit with the teeeny monument is taking the p*ss out of Black Sabbath who, on one of their early 80's tours, had a Stonehenge monument which was too big to fit in most of the arenas they played in.

Anyone who's been in a band will appreciate a lot of the jokes. A band I was in a few years ago, Old Scratch encountered a few Tap-esque moments during our shambolic 2 and a half year existence. We had our singer storm off the stage half way through a gig, the drug problems (guitar players body went numb and he had to sit down to do the gig "I can't feel my hands" he said), a drummer who would disappear for weeks on end (literally), Macedonian popularity, the uncomfortable reunion, the dodgy guitar signal and more... much more.

Spinal Tap is the greatest movie ever made.

    TAP LIVES!!!
