Hi I have XP installed on a Dell machine, the search program is not working any ideas how to repair.

Is there a repair option on XP installation CD??

When i say search by the way I mean:

    Click start - then Search

It's for finding files or folders.

That's the biggest fault with XP. This page will explain it for you http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_bad_search.htm

I tried the fixes but couldn't get them to work properly. There's a link to a tool called Agent Ransack on that page, very good for finding stuff.

Thats stopped working on win XP to nearly everyone I know.

It never seems half as good as the older search program on earlier windows versions.
