I receive my UK Terestial channels from Divis in Belfast using a Triax 96 element aerial. I have good clear pictures with perfect teletext and Nicam stereo. Given this, can anyone confirm that I should be able to receive Freeview DTT without a problem.

    Many thanks
    Cormac

    who knows?

Freeview is MUCH lower power. Try to borrow one to try out befoere you buy.

BTW "Triax" count elements a funny way. I'll bet it is actually a 24 element.
    1 reflector
    1 driven element/ dipole
    20 directors

It would indeed by a 20 or so element jobby. I don't know of anyone with a freeview box. If an analogue signal is half decent, would DTT likely work. I would give my current picture and 8 or 9 out of 10.

I learned from my tests on Brougher here in Co. Leitrim that you need a 100% analog picture to be in with a chance to pick up Freeview. And, a booster, in my case a Fringe masthead booster worked wonders. I also came across a house where the reception was not quite a 100%, and my box was unable to properly read the stream, and the picture came and went.
So, my suggestion would also be: Find somebody with a Freeview box and check before you buy one yourself.

In my experience, the analogue picture equivalent doesn't have to be 100% - if you have a little bit of snow on your picture I wouldn't rule Freeview out though you might not get all multiplexes. But the fact is, especially for fringe areas, a big aerial is needed.

On D****** S** the Televes DAT aerials come highly recommended.

    NC :)

Very true. In Bangor, I can get all MUXes through a set-top aerial and booster from Argos - analogue through the same aerial is poor.

That may be true and it also depends on the Tuner. The Goodmans and the Setpal ones are supposed to be very reliable in fringe areas while the Pace e.g. only works properly in good reception areas. There is a test on different boxes over at d****** s**.
On arials, I used the big triax, but have a gr.A Hirschmann now, and this works well, I might be interested in the DAT75, though.
