Sorry about this but not a big metal fan. More of a rock fan but was wondering if the video I have been seeing on the music channels of Nothing Else Matters with the orchestra is actually the original version or if its a special and is it possible to buy it?

Also where would I find their version of Whiskey in the Jar?

    Thanks.

Haven't seen an "orchestra" video of the song yet, but that's probably the version from the S&M album.

The original version is just them and is to be found on the "Black" album (officially called "metallica").

There's also an acoustic version & varying live versions of it if you can find them.

Also where would I find their version of Whiskey in the Jar?

That can be found on the "Garage Inc." album

Lemming, the original was also recorded with orchestration.
Reffer to the inlay of the black album, and you'll find "arranged by Michael Kamen" in the credits. Same guy who did S&M you'll find. You = pwnd! :p

The video they show on MTV2 etc. most of the time is the S&M version recorded in California in 1999. The original video shows them (with long hair back then) performing/mucking around in the studio. Doesn't get shown as often as the S&M one.

do ya like metallica's whiskey in the jar, the guitar's were deadly but james hetfield's voice was nothin compared to phil lynnots, he's a great voice normally but i just thought it wasn't suited, what ya think?

I always suspected there was string backing in the background of the song, but I'd never checked the inlay. I stand corrected.

Incidentally, Michael kamen also did the soundtrack to "Band of Brothers". Cracking soundtrack.

There is very very little of the ochestra left in Nothing else matters as it appears on the black album, they made an elevtaor version with one guitar hetfield and the ochestra for the luagh, sounds halarious..

Basically they thought the orchestra sounded too corny,so they took 99% of it out, then 8 or 9 years later they did the orchestral version on S&M refined, and a hell of a lot better..

Was weird actully as I came onto this forum I actully had the song playing..

Anyways the video your on about is the S&M preformance,as people have mentioned

    Cheers

    Tom

Also, you may find "whiskey in the jar" on The album "greatest hits of crapola Vol 91: The pile of bollocks years"
Oh yeah, and in case youre wondering, thats not a real album.
