Cube 2: Hypercube

    Watched it last night, and loved it.... Its not as good as the first one, but its still excellent. Same idea - 8 people stuck in a cube (which we find out is version 2 of the original cube). Theres a private investigator, a hacker, a doctor, a blind kid, a lawyer, a scientist, an old woman and a general - good mix of people.

    This one is a bit more sci-fi than the last one - a hypercube is a 4 dimensional cube, so there are multiple realities and shit like that, but its all good.

    Minor criticism 1: the lack of decent traps. They were the coolest part of the first one, but they're nothing special here (strange CGI shapes and stuff...)

    Minor criticism 2: Its not as clever as the first one (numbers etched on doors - figure out the numbers and you escape). The escape in Hypercube is a lot less logical (and not as clever).

    Like the Matrix Reloaded, its one you could watch with friends and discuss in great detail afterwards (a lot of it is left open to interpretation). :)

    The back story and the ending mean that Cube 3 is inevitable.

    Haven't seen this one yet seen the first one Sci Fi channel don't know how many times. quality one
    What station was the second one? Sci FI or cnx or something else :)

    Cube is excellent, Cube 2: Hypercube is possibly one of the worst films I've ever had the misfortune of enduring. The actor playing the PI couldn't act, and seemed to have the same pained expression on his face throughout the film (somewhere between deep thought/confusion/constipation). The traps were worse, overuse of CGI ruined it - as you said TmB, cooler in the first one.

    Yeah, the numbers were easily figured out. If they had just
    stayed where they were as in Cube
    , they'd have been ok.

    One thing I didn't get:
    The 'doctor' (who was actually a soldier that infiltrated the Hypercube) took something from around the neck of the hacker just before she escapes the Hypercube, and returns it to her CO at the end - Was this the whole point of everyone being there, just to sniff out the hacker? I presume they knew that the blind girl really was this infamous hacker before putting her in the Hypercube, so why didn't they just search her there and then, get the info, and save me the bother of watching such drivel?
