I just have an old VHF aerial in the attic and can't pick up TV3. Whats the easiest way to pick up TV3 on terrestrial? can i convert the old aerial or how much does a UHF aerial cost and can it be put in the attic?

Location needed, mate. Whereabouts in this island are you (roughly, don't have to be exact)

You'll need a UHF aerial, for sure, you wont pick up TV3 on a VHF. Your location should give us here an idea as to what type of UHF aerial is needed.

Some places might pick up Spur Hill better (overlooks Cork City from North West).

I'd recommend aerial on the roof. If chimney mounted make sure it is clear of any sooty effulent you might have.

Make sure it is proper aerial for group

This page; http://www.irish-tv.com/irishtrans.html is OK for locations and channels etc.

You can use a UHF TV / FM Radio combiner or duplexer (About 8 Euro) to combine VHF RTE1 and Net2 with UHF TG4 and TV3. Try to get a signal from a transmitter with all on UHF as quality is often better.
