I've been playing for years now and I can play anything. ANYTHING! All I need is a Rhythm guitarist, bassist or drummer to get a fire lit. Ages Preferably 14-17

I'm into ONLY Metal/Death Metal. No Nu-metal. No way.

Influences are as follows: Meshuggah, At the gates, Sepultura, Metallica, Fredrik Thordendal and Slayer. I used to love Pantera but I fell out loving them but thier still OK just.

I wouldnt fully call my self a fan of these listed out here because I havn't any albums because I'm a bum. But I still love them: Morbid Angel, In flames, Amon Amarth, Old Mans Child

P.m. me, reply here or E-Mail me at davittbarry@hotmail.com

    Thanks

    Dav

i'd like to hear him playing the solo from blackened or damage inc. That would be interesting. I'm not attacking the chap, just trying to take him down a peg. Slightly too cocky and hopefully going to a bit of a wake up call soon.

He does sound cocky alright, but if he doesn't live up to what he says, he will only embarress himself when he jams with a band.
    So just leave him be.

    Indeed.

Why is it so hard to belive?! If you wanna hear me play the Blackenned solo fair enough. I'm gonna record myself. Gimme a day or two.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

All I'm saying is that I know a few bloody good guitarists but only one of them can play blackened flawlessly and at speed. I find it hard to believe that someone who is 16 or 17 can play absolutely any song by these bands. I really would love to be proven wrong but I just can't stand guitarists boasting about there level of playing. IMO ugitarists shouldn't have to brag about how fast they can play. They should let the guitar do all the work and show people how they can play.

I'm 15 by the way. Heres a thing I recorded just now. It's not much. I'll still do Blackened. The feedback from my pc screen has messed the sound but it's ok. It's a scale from a Meshuggah song called "Ritual". The only problom is that I dont now how to post it. It's a sound file so it wont upload. Any ideas?

www.digitalsoundplanet.com provide free uploading abilities. Have to register though but it's free!

Oh and about my cockyness. yes that might sound abit cocky but what I ment by that was I get asked the same thing all the time. Like "What can you play?". Well heres my answer. Anything.

I'm on that site now. One min.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Even still, that's a bit cocky. I imagine a decent blues or jazz player would blow you out of the water (based on the bands that you listen to)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭Concatenator

Meshuggah and Fredrik Thordendal use Jazzy Scales. Gimme a jazz song to play then.

you misunderstand. Like I said, from the bands you posted, you appear to be somewhat of a metal head. Now just because I song uses Jazz scales, doesn't mean you can play jazz. Maybe you can, I don't know. The whole point of my replies to this post is to suggest to you that you don't be so cocky because someone will take you down someday. So where's this song?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭Concatenator

"(based on the bands that you listen to)"

    Thats a bit prejudice.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I actually meant to say posted. Apologies.

Forget the whole Jazz thing it's going nowhere. WE BOTH NO NOTHING ABOUT EACH OTHER. Therefore lets both shut up.

I cant get my head around this Digitalsoundplanet. I've joined. How do I enter a song?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

www.digitalsoundplanet.com -> Enter Site -> My Planet -> Login -> Post To Showroom -> And fill in the path to mixdown.

play some kerry king of jeff hannaman (sp??) style solos and youll get peoples approval , they are the best metal band in the world bar none

but you shouldnt be just lookin for a rythm guitarist , you should just ask for a guitarist so you can both play lead , harmonise , and echo each other and have different styles goin , its ****in hard to find people to start a metal band iv been lookin for ages

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 69 ✭✭Concatenator

Slayer solos are absolutly ****e. Probably why I don't like em very much. No sence of tone in them. Just played very fast. My file is not an Mp3 file. How do I change that?

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Download a wav to mp3 converter from download.com is probably your best bet. unless you have some sound software already on your computer that'll do it.

While you're at it upload a recording of yourself playing 'Alltitudes' by Jason Becker

    Well heres my answer. Anything.

somebody like you is the last person anyone should be in a band with,
unless of course you find equally gifted people like you self with appropriately sized egos.Mind you all that ego would clash and youd have to go solo.
No problem for you thou, cause you can play anything, right?

FFS, your 15 and you say you can play anything.
Let me put it to you that you think you can play anything cause you have zero to little experiance of other musicians and
have done nothing but look at your self in the mirror admireing your greatness. give us a break man.

Your a bit vauge - been playing for years? how many is that then?
So youd have no problem with some minimalist Dub guitar
or some Robert Johnsen riffs and then if the mood takes
you some wes montgomery. Should be no probs for some one as good as you.

Christ even Steve Via would not say he could play anything.

I'd be a lot harsher on you mate but your 15, givin your attitude I reckon you gonna have a lot of let downs and painfull realities hit you BUT maybe then with some pain and experiance under your belt you can start playing and expressing your self properly.

    Good luck.Practice.
    Rant Over.

    Amen!!

Still waiting on those Blackened and Damage Inc. solos.

When I go to learn a song. I can in most cases play it. The only song I have come across that I cannot play is Joe satriani's "Day at the beach".

Oh and about Blackenned. I'm not going to do it. I put my PC away for personal reasons and gave it to a friend. I have nothing else to record on. The PC I'm using now is my mothers. It has no Mic. So sorry. I'm not backing out.

I have been playing mayby 3 1/2 years. I play every day for ages. I'm addicted. All I play anymore is solos. Prefecting. Oh - and another reason I wont record is because my rig is dreadfull. When I play a guitar in a shop it sound great. When I do scales fast it give it a more crispier and clean. Mine is really muddy and I get allot of feedback. And if I go and do scaled on the - say - E string it's very muddy and I can destiguish the notes. Sorry.

Well what is your "rig"? You don't need a great setup to record. You don't even need a mic. Just get a 3.5 - 6.5mm cable and plug her in. It seems pretty suspicious that you had recorded a piece yet never uploaded it. IT smells horribley like backing out. Perhaps I'm wrong. If I am, I apologise. But I'm going with my gut instinct here that you don't have all the skills that you say you do.

Hold on... I thought you said you could play "ANYTHING"? Now you're contradicting yourself mate.

As others have said, you're in for ALOT of let downs, as a drummer if I was searching for a guitarist I wouldn't take you on based on your attitude. Doesn't matter if you can play anything.

Can you also create ANYTHING on your own? Or are you just a great imitator?

You should go and re-adjust your attitude and then look for a band, you should also prove all us doubters wrong and post some samples of your skills.

I've seen people who claim they can play anything, and have turned out to be candiates for the special Olympics. 3 1/2 years, now I know he is talking bull.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

Which about the exact same amount of time I've been playing and it's only now that I've starting playing things and wondering how the hell I did them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭Ronika

Hey, Leave the poor guy alone. Maybe he is cant play everthing but at least he has the confidence to believe he can and thats all he needs!!!

Also I know plenty of people who can play the guitar brilliantly and have only played it for about a year or two. Some people just have the ability to pick things up straight away. A talent I wish I had

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

I wouldn't say confidence, it's more arrogance. Not even Steve Vai or Joe Satriani can play "anything"!

I don't mean to attack you, but do you know a good guitarist from a bad guitarist when someone can play Sandman or Cochise? I've only ever heard of one person who could play bloody well after one year. He has his own signature line and he's only 18 or 19 or something like that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 129 ✭✭Ronika

Of course I know a good guitarist when I hear one, just as I know that Im a bad one. All I meant is give him a little bit of a break. Maybe he is a too over confident and a arrogant but can you honestly say u werent a bit cocky when u were his age because I know I was but its something he'll grow out of. And Im pretty sure he probably regretts posting what he said in the first place at this stage.

    Didnt mean to offend!!:ninja:

My point there was that people who don't play guitar are often amazed by those who can, no matter how bad. Just go into a guitar shop and look at the 13 and 14 year old playing cochise with all his mates standing around him going "wow, that's unbelievable!!!". I didn't know you were a guitarist. Apologies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,522 ✭✭✭Dr. Loon

He needed to be taken down a peg or two. It's better this way. Imagine how he'd fell when he auditions for a serious band, and they all laugh at him when he plays his "anything"

Also, if he'd post up some samples, I'm sure he might shut us up.

    Or not.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 23,363 Mod ✭✭✭✭feylya

And he has a song waiting to be uploaded. Oh, but he put his computer away so we won't be hearing "anything" from him for some time, I imagine.
