Broadband in Clonakilty

It was in our local paper yesterday that Eircom are enabling the exchange in Clonakilty. It was actually announced by Minister Joe Walsh who is from the town.

I rang Eircom to confirm, and yes they revealed that they are working on the exchange.

Clonakilty is a rural town with approx 3500 people so it seems strange that we are getting broadband.

Is it too early ot get my hopes up regarding this.

Does that have a smell of preferential treatment cos of the minister maybe putting pressure on eircom?

Don't get me wrong it's great for the town and all...the more exchanges the better.
