NEW DELHI - A nine-year-old girl was married to a stray dog in a ceremony attended by more than 100 guests in a village in India's eastern state of Bengal as part of a ritual intended to ward off a bad omen, newspapers reported Thursday.

The girl's father, Baburam Handsa, a poor sharecropper, could not afford the expenses of marrying his daughter to a boy, so he saved money by making a street dog the groom on June 11, the paper reported.

We must be the strangest creatures ever to have walked this earth...... if there is a God he must be shaking his head and asking "why me" !! lol

There is another village in India where they feed the rats.
There are thousands of them running around the village square, running up peoples legs and generally playing with the locals in broad daylight, with no fear at all
I saw this on a discovery channel.
And they say only in america....

Btw, that link goes to a search error message.

Reminds me of the guy in the U.K who had his name changed to Play Station 2 after he was refused a marriage licence (he wanted to marry his console) He also tried to adopt his games as his children...

I'm having a gander for the story and if I find it I'll stick it up.

Prolly the same village where an uncle spotted his niece walking down the street with a boy. The uncle chopped off the girls head, there and then, to save the honor of the family. AND the law states he was perfectly entitled to do so.
