Kicking on Servers!!

Right I have to put this as clearly as possible while I'm still angry enough. Playing away on CA and "meek.of.aaah" or whatever he likes to call himself decides to set health to 1 and disable all weapons except the pea-shooter. Twas good fun and when the game ended I re-enabled the weapons again thinking that it was a one off and most people would want to play a normal game again. With that the aforementioned person decides to kick me. So I had to reconnect as a spectator because it was full. I asked why I was kicked and he says "because you were arsing around". So thats that. I'm frozen out for a shoddy and pathetic reason with no way od doing anything about it. Of course there are plenty of possible reasons for all this:-
1. "I thought you were arsing around but if you had explained that you weren't then I would have apologised" - unlikely one this but let me just say I never kick people form a server but even if I ever did it would be for a damn good reason.
2. "I don't like you musician and this was a great opportunity to **** you off" - in that case congrats. you succeeded.
3. "I'm a twat and I just love abusing my power. Deciding to have a game with all weapons dis-abled was genius at work and if anyone had complained at any stage they would have been kicked. I am a frag GOD and nobody, not even a fellow elected admin can question me" - also unlikely but makes me laugh.

To sum up I consider myself responsible in most of my dealings in the Quake community and I don't like being accused of arsing around. I am SERIOUSLY ****ED OFF but will no doubt cool down soon enough. All the more reason to say it now.

Almost as bad as (but just pipped by) some ******* geting admin in round 8 of a 9 round game and resetting the server.

I thought that sort of muppetry stoped when the kiddies went to bed, but it seems that parents these days let their kids stay up later and later.....

Yeah I agree.
The most annoyin thing is when someone comes into a game and before he does anything else he tries to get ops for no reason other than the power to **** around and kick people who are annoyin/beating him. Would be cool if there could be an option where the players vote to de-op the man in charge, coz this powertrip thing gets very annoyin when it's some spotty prat acting the w@nk with the server when ppl just want a decent game. To be honest I don't see this type of muppetry too much, apart from like what Gerry said when a full game is reset purely for a muppet who happens to have a muppet-friend who somehow got ops when the server was empty.

Maybe suds could give the rcon to one or two select people like Vex/Blade/Tomb who can sort out these sh!tty situations when they occur.

I don't know about you guys but when I go on to CA I expect to *enjoy* a good game, even if I get hammered (which is pretty regularly) I can still enjoy a game. What I don't enjoy and what seems to be happening more and more is

1. Stupid puerile prepubescent arguments about 'who's gay' etc..

2. Kickings for no reason other than the op doesn't like the guy, and he had the audacity to reply to an insult!!

3. This sh*t of 'dead' sayin where you are, or where an opponent is. I prefer to play and if I get beaten so be it. I wait for others to finish but it seems not many have the same courtesy.

4. This crap of trying to start arguments and appear knowledgable by throwing around words like 'muppet', 'camper' etc. Usually by the same people who camp thamselves!

5. Being followed and shot and generally harrassed by your OWN TEAM MATE! I thought it was CLAN ARENA? As in TEAM? Oooh, I stole a kill, next time the player might want me to help, and if I stand there and do nothing my team loses a member and I'd have to go one on one, I prefer outnumbering the enemy.

6. This complete crap of being told, you were lucky! Or fluke, you didn't deserve it! etc. People here probably know me from CA, have I EVER gloated over someone's death? Have I ever claimed skill when it was luck? I might not be the best player but I do sometimes have moments of glory. As well as a lot of moments of absolute jamminess!

It seems that there is a lot wrong and more going wrong with CA. I enjoy CA (I'm better at it than 1 on 1 for example) but if this crap continues I'm really tempted to say **** it. I use my time to play and provide enjoyable opposition for some one else, is it too much to expect the same in return?

I guess a couple of things could and should be done - here's the options...

1. Up the percentage of yes votes for an admin (doesn't work when only one person on the server but will help at peak times) so that muppets aren't voted in.

2. Have no elections, only a group of trusted admins (think that's what we did on quake.ie).

3. Have no admins at all, just have set settings and be happy with two teams, 7 rounds no matter the situation.

Muso, you are dead right and I'm losing my patience with it too, particularly when it spills over into IRC.

I think a set of admins would be the best solution. But much tighter then the #quake ones so as to reduce the incidences of "Wah he abused his power cos he doesnt like me!!"

Glad to see the dialogue on this. The small set of Admins is probably the best option with a couple of problems:-

1. Who do we trust. I would imagine INC Mickah would normally trusted. Not by me obviously <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif&quot; WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)"> but in general.

2. When these selected Admins aren't around we would need a voting option to switch levels or something. We'd have to live without being able to alter weapon and health settings but so be it.

I also have to wholeheartedly agree with what Lolth says. It's not rife by any means but I could do without the ego's and the "spammer" accusations (you normally get accused of spamming when you've killed someone with grenades <IMG SRC="http://lacerta.ucg.ie/boards/smile.gif&quot; WIDTH=15 HEIGHT=15 BORDER=0 ALT=":)">) That said I was learning to live with it. Getting kicked last night when I could have kicked THAT person for arsing around with wep sttings himself was the last straw.

I'd have to say that I'm in total agreement with Musician there. What the hell do u need four and five ppl as admins anyway.It's understandable that you always need one person on ops, and as someone knows there stuff more comes along they should take it, but ppl takin ops just for the sake of it is ridiculous, just don't elect them!!!!!!

2nd last stage of a 1on1, scores tied. Spectators asking if they can restart....Nope....Most are fine, Mickah drops in , gets Admin'd and resets anyway. My opponent complains first and gets kicked........Great fun.

How about votes to set a crap Admin to axe only for a day?
