    From Empireonline.co.uk

Looks like we are in for a double dose of Alien fever. Both Alien Vs Predator and Alien 5 are on the way.
There is a bit of a battle to see which one gets produced first. I would love to see Cameron back in the directors chair for another movie but would prefer to see him direct Alien Vs Predator than Alien 5.
Either way, I can't wait for the movies.

Now Terminator V R2D2 thats a movie I'd like to see.

Alien v Preditor question for ya... how the hell can they combine the two?

The story line for the add on pack for AvP 2 is a good way of combining both species....

no doubt it'll have plenty of action

In Predator 2 when the cop went in to the Alien craft on the walls was skulls of other species. If i'm not mistaken there was a skull of an Alien on the wall also...

A little bit of googling found my answer.

rabies is right, there was an alien skull on the ship at the end of predator 2.

i reckon they should set avp on earth, have the aliens running amok & then pred comes down to sort it all out.
the alien book - earth hive - would make a good storyline for alien 5

Cameron told Empire that he wouldn't do an Alien 5 if there was an AvP before hand. He wants to compleatly rework/rethink the story, start afreash with no ties to the other films. He's only interested in writing though, he was thinking Ridly Scott could direct.

...I think that sounds more interesting than an Alien vs Preditor, which you know isn't going to live up to any expectations.

I doubt Alien5 will live up to much, and how the hell will AvP work? a predator would kick the cr*p out of 10 aliens, easily. Look at all them gadgets he has, hes the perfect hunter (and hes so damn cool looking).

It will be interesting to see how it ends up tho.

As far as I know Paul Anderson (Event Horizon) is directing AvP. I have to say I'm really looking forward to these films, I was a massive fan of the previous 6 and hopefully these 2 films will be great. Rabies is right, in fact the whole AvP universe came from that one little scene in Predator 2. Personally I hope they don't set it on earth because I just don't think that'd work, the films (excluding predator 2) have always been about the loneliness and terror of being stuck in the wilderness (whether that be a forest, deep space or a barren wasteland planet) and that just wouldn't really work on earth (as I feel Predator 2 proved to a point).
I'd like it if the AvP film was tied in in some way with the book Prey which was set on the barren farmland planet of Ryushi (which would also fit in with the cancelled scripts for Alien 3), there was even a script written with that intent in mind but I don't know if thats been accepted or not.
Anyways it's going to be a long long time before we see either of them.

In the A V P comic book, doesnt it say something like the Predator created the Alien species themselves. They were createing the perfect species to hunt ... or something like that.

Anyway ... I really hope they are making more Alien films. Its one of the best (if not the best) series of films every made imo.

The story ive gatherd by googling is .....

A group of Predator's hunting, encountered the alien species on a planet and found them so entertaining to hunt that they took some alien eggs and seeded various planets, let them breed and multiply and then took on the challenge of hunting them down.

No-one knows the Aliens species home planet. :)

having Cameron rework the series would be excellent! and getting Ridley Scott in; very tasty, bring the series back to those that made it great!

IMO The last two films weren't worth the price of admission.

I remember Cameron was saying at one point that while he was very interested in making another aliens film, he didn't want anything to do with the AVP franchise.

Fair dues to the man if he can get the studios to "let" him start afresh; should prove interesting.

This news has made me very happy.

The Predators didn't create the aliens, these guys, the pilot species. The predators probably just took some out of the ship that was on LV-426.

Alien 3 was great, you just have to watch it without expecting it to be like Aliens and you'll enjoy it. I'd agree with you on A:R though, that was pretty damned crappy.

Unless of course the AVP film is actually alien V ?

Ripley and the rest return to Earth to find the military's Urban pacification aliens having fun and the Predators turn up to have a field day with the humans caught in the middle.

    ta-daaaaa

well it *could* happen you know!:D

    yeah, alien 3 was sweet.
i cant wait for the "extended directors print" or whatever messed up name they're calling the directors cut.

and yes, ressurection was poo (the psone game was better than the film ffs!)

Well if your interested and have broadband these are well worth look (you can also just read about them if you just have 56k):
    http://www.planetavp.com/al/Alien3/DeletedScenes/
Ok so the quality is dire but you get a real feel for what the deleted scenes would have added to the film and how different it would have been had they been left in. You can also get the Alien 3 workprint which is sort of like a directors cut but it's very hard to get and basically when it comes down to it illegal. I still wouldn't mind picking up a copy though.
News on the director's cut has been slow to filter through and it could very well never happen as David Fincher the director has completely disassociated himself from the film but theres quite a few petitions you can sign if you want to see it happen and the forums at www.aliensversuspredator.com have a huge amount of info on both the deleted scenes and the workprint.

Well done Sloth, great link there.

The gist behind AvP was always that the Aliens were considered the ultimate Hunt by the predators, but had not been created by them. The origins of the aliens has never been properly cleared but one theory had them as a terramorphic cleanser used by the pilot species (see above) to "clean" new colonies of indigenous life.

An AvP film can work easy. Human colony gets "seeded" with aliens, predators arrive for the hunt, battle ensues, Ripley (hopefully) nowhere to be seen.

Btw all those questions about how to combine the btwo all you have to do is read the first AvP comic book which explains all.

Also that comic book would be perfect for the movie as it is actually quite a well balanced story. I really hope it happens and cant wait to see it. Also as far as Aliens 5 goes I hope its based on Earth War and is just a marine fill blastfest :D

It's a safe assumption that Sigourney Weaver won't be involved in the next Alien movie. Neither Ridley Scott or James Cameron particularly like her and the way she has abused the Alien franchise.

She's the reason they were so great in the first place, it just wouldn't have been the same if the lead character had been a man. I can't imagine 5 without her although I'd agree the way they re-did her in 4 into a sarky world weary character didn't really suit and I wouldn't really want to see that again in 5.

Congratulations Wolf, you've managed to miss the entire appeal of the Alien films with that. The Alien films are not Starship Troopers, if you want to see a mindless bloodfest go watch that, what they are about is character development and the psychology of the people stuck in the nightmare. Just look at the first 3 films, your already an hour into them before you even see the alien in the first place but you don't really notice because the story up until then is so well presented and told. Degrading it to a simple Starship Troopers film robs it of everything that made it good in the first place.

There is an Alien VS Predator unproduced script floating around the net (check most film script sites).

I think it is based on the original Dark Hourse Book - this film has been in the pipeline since the early ninities , so don't hold your breath.

I think they made a balls of the alien films after Aliens, they has so much to work with after this but ingored the best ideas...

Alien Quadrilogy (DVD): Some exciting disc news today for fans of great sci-fi. DVDBoxOffice.com has details on Fox's Alien Quadrology set which has set a tentative release of November 11th, and what's coming sounds quite cool. You will be able to play both the theatrical version and James Cameron's 'Special Edition' version of "Aliens", the former of which has never been released before on this format (only the SE has been available). "Alien Resurrection" will feature an alternate opening and ending (incl. crashdown on Earth), and biggest news of all is David Fincher's unreleased full 170 min original version of "Alien 3" will be here - almost a full hour longer than the theatrical print. The ninth disc in the set will include "Alien Legacy" Documentary, "Alien Evolution" BBC Documentary, Darkhorse Alien and Alien vs. Predator comics, and the complete collection of Laser Disc features which weren't on the previous DVD box-set.

    *SPOILER*

Aliens vs. Predator: IGN Filmforce has some juicy SPOILER details on the first part of the script for the long-awaited sci-fi teamup. Here's a short summary of what to expect from the film which has been revealed to take place in the present day - "It seems that structures which pre-date the pyramid civilizations of Egypt and the Americas have been discovered far beneath the Antarctic icecap by satellites. So to explore this finding billionaire Weyland assembles a drill team, specialists in Aztec and Egyptian archaeology, and an environmental scientist. Once inside the pyramids, the group discover disturbing remains including piles of human skeletons with holes in the chest (from Alien "chest-bursters"), and fossilized Alien "face huggers", seems that the temple was either built or infested by Aliens in Earth's distant past. The script pages make no mention of the Predator. It seems that he may show up farther along in the movie. Considering the depth that must be drilled to reach the Aliens, the Predator may be a late arrival who uses the humans' own passage to the temple".
