Fanography on MTV

Did anyone else ever see this show?It doesnt have a regular timeslot but basically it is where a load of by and large obsessive fans of an artist or band invite MTV into their homes, show off their 30,000 posters of mentioned artist and then tell their life story from bits they picked up from the internet and the newpapers. Its fierce funny sh1t,a gathering of largely the most bizarre, obsessed, loyal and twisted of fans,a group of Americans who are like Avid Merrion from Bo Selecta in all but accent and appearence.

TBH I only saw two episodes seeing as it is on irregularly-one on Eminem a few months back and one on Britney Spears today. Its a great laugh.

The Britney one had a mix of a transvestite performing her greatest hits on stage,a few more stereotypical younger female fans who actually gave a sh1te that she got dumped by Justin Timberlake, thought he was cruel for refusing to marry her,and were concerned that she has now started smoking and drinking, and lastly oone or two young guys who actually like her music and didnt seem to have all her posters purely for **** sessions. They had an active interest in her music and one even gave review on all her US tours, which he seems to have loyally attended.
And seeing as somebody will undoubtely ask,no,they didnt appear to be gay.
Well, except for the transvestite of course:D

As funny as this was the Eminem one was even better. One girl seemed truly insane. If you seen it she was the one who had the sort of glazed look and whos dog ate Dr Dre(yes, she had Dr Dre dolls!)She had even made out a big chart showing the various stages of Eminem and his wifes relationship, which to be honest disturbed me more than anything that anybody is arsed enough to make a 3 foot high chart displaying the highs and lows of two people they have never even met.I mean,it had photos,a timeline, everything! The song Stan was wrtten for her methinks. This lot probably spend their days trying to find his phone number and home address.

It really was typical MTV though. You may remember the Indian American MC they had on that show, about the only one who didnt seem off his rocker.Anyway,I came across a post by him on a different message board in which he said that MTV had told him to get his mother to dress up in traditional dress so that they could show how multicultural his fanbase was.He said he was very embarrased but needed the tv show to boost his exposure as an MC where he lived. If the mother didnt appearon camera dressed like that he was told his section would not be shown.

So as said it is MTV down to an embarrasing shameful T.But it is extremely entertaining to watch it and see these psychos. And even more fun to imagine the reaction of the artist in seeing these loonys being so obsessed with them:D

Very funny show. I don't watch it regularly though.

The fat guy in the Britney costume was hilarious and that Eminem fan with "that stare" was bloody insane. I kept expecting to see the camera back away slowly before bursting into a mad dash like someting out of The Blair Witch Project.

i think that i may have seen this Fanography programme that you speak of. i turned on channel 440 to see what fantastic programming might be available and saw some girl, really happy that she got a weed from inside the gate of Britney Spears house. as you can imagine i got really excited watching it so i had to change channel straight away

for anyone interested in watching this show:
Britney Spears Fanography - today at 3pm
Eminem Fanography - today at 7pm

For the record, MTV made me make that timeline. I was 19 and was obsessed with Eminem. I had been bullied horribly in school and could relate to him and his music helped me cope with everything. What they failed to show, was the scenes they filmed at my middle school, where I told my story as to what happened and why I was truly a fan. This is because the principal was so outraged, that she called me a liar in front of the MTV staff and cameramen and accused me of "fabricating my past to be able to win a spot on the show". She didn't seem to care that I was bawling my eyes out as she accused me of lying or that she wasn't even the principal at the time. Was I a little "crazy" for Eminem, sure. But, who are you to judge, when you don't even know half of the story?

and the crying was just before the filming at my home, so that explains the "glazed look". ass bag

Glad to see you've matured in these last 8 years!

Just makes me mad and I've had an awful day. Immature, definitely so. But,so is judging people without knowing all the facts,at least.
