    Hey Irishguy,

This isn't gonna help you get somewhere to stay, but just so you know, the Bronx isn't all a big scary place, so you should look for accomodation in the North of the bronx (if I remember correctly). There is one part of the bronx that is actually full of Irish people, lots of Irish pubs etc!

The Fitzpatrick is a nice hotel, but it is right central in Manhattan and maybe a little pricey

Try the lonely planet website or somewhere like that.. they are usually geared to people travellin on a budget and you could get a cheap hotel or good quality hostel to stay in, maybe even a dorm if there is enuff of ye...

    Here are some suggestions:

    Rough Guide

    Lonely Planet

    Hostelling International

    Other Hostel Sites:

whatever you do in NY, at the very least take the boat tour on the circle line. 3 hours around the whole island of NYC this tour is the best way to see nY and get a perspective of its size....bus tours are no good.
