Netsource Downtime Today

Today from approximately 11am to 2pm I couldn't access or ping any other sites but Netsource.ie. I was told that the I-Link was down and that no one could connect beyond netsource. I'm just wondering how many of you had the same problem today and whether or not everything is back to normal now. Everything is grand again for me but just as the service came back on there were some ping spikes. I was told I'd be gotten back to with the full error report once they get it.

Mine went down - apparently their link went at 10:30. I haven't had a chance to check if its back up though.

Yep, mine went down too, but it's back up now. When I couldn't connect after an hour or two, I rang them, and they gave me the same spiel they gave you.

It'd be nice to have a solid stable service where you don't have to worry about the entire network going offline every time you connect.....

Yep, same story here.... down from 10:30.
Just checked now and it's ok again.

I hope they're just 'teething' problems though, rather than an indication of the future quality of service we can expect.

thats the second time the network has been down in a month. IMO, its too unstable to recommend to any business as yet, even though its a business product we all have

Well I'm on the business ADSL and both times the network has gone down has been during business hours. Stability is one of the main attractions of broadband but as it stands at the moment there seems to be some sort of downtime at least every two weeks. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again.

Give 'em a break will ye lads! If anyone had bothered to do a tracert to boards.ie they would have noticed that it no longer routes through England , so obviously they were working on that....

I been with Netsource for 3 weeks now and as far as im concerned after 6 during weekdays and all weekend this service is complete bollox. My connection is rapidly dropping now from decent to a Netsource standard ****e. Pings climb to 250-300, speedtest now has my connection as poor and dl at 20kbs. These guys are a punch of cowboys and in 5 weeks time im out.

When its down it costs businesses money.
Businesses should expect it to be up at all times during working hours.
They should at least let their customers know
I'm getting rid of it as soon as i can.
Might even have to go to Eircom ffs

I heard Sloths business lost millions during that downtime

Hey I never said I had a business myself but I was just noting that it had gone down twice on the business package during business hours. Anyway if the service goes down like that again I'm not sure I'll continue with the contract, I don't like having to ring up 5 times to get through to someone and be told I'll be gotten back to only to finally have to ring back an hour later to be told the problem. I was then told I'd get an error report but well, I didn't.

The point i was trying to make is that if you sell a business product you should treat your customers like you would any other business. If you are doing maintenance you should let them know beforehand.
If it goes down, you ring and explain and offer a refund for downtime.
If you don't do this you will not get repeat business or reccomendations.
Netsource need to cop themselves on and do this.

Can you say contention ratio, If you want leased line speed then get a leased line. In theory you could be providewd with 2k a sec and have to make do cause of the contention.

Bit annoying if you're running your own mail server:(

Also annoying if your in the middle of talking to someone on a webcam and suddenly blamo, they stop moving and talking mid-sentence and you have to wait 3 hours to finish the conversation

Yeah mine went down at 10:30 too. I was waiting for a really ****in important email too about a job. Only one week and it's been fairly ****ing ropey. Like last night the download speed cut in half for a couple of hours, I can take stuff like that tho. But on the whole it's been excellent tbh, not for gamers though.

My download was about 30k at 6pm but since about 7 it's been really good, pity about the pings

I don't knwo about yesterday but last week's outage was completely Eircom's fault and afaik Eircom customers were equally affected.

Yesterday I was pissed off at the fact that when I tried to phone NetSOurce all I could get was their out of office hours message. No putting me on hold, no pre recorded message explaining the outage. This is NOT a business-like service response.

For me I have been getting pretty good speed, evenings a 'slight' bit slower, but great on weekends.

First off - I have no complaints whatsoever with the level of support Netsource have provided for me. They are efficient and eager to help. :)

However - I have been getting huge fluctuations in download speeds from pushing 450kbps from bandwidthplace.com all the way down to 70.
