That old record is only a year old, set on the 17th of June 2017.

Was it not set on the 1st August 2003? I'm seeing the highest June temp as 40.8c.

Unfortunately I can't find the site that said it was 42c on the 17th of June 2017. I see some websites saying 41c for that day so it must be the 40.8c rounded up?

You're not getting mixed up between Spain and Portugal?

46.8 °C at Alvega, Portugal, yesterday, was the highest reported in all of Iberia during this heatwave. In Spain, the highest was 46.6 at El Granado.

National records weren't broken, but 24 Portuguese station records were (though the majority of these stations are relatively new).

A big "Firenado" recently caused by a wildfire near Reading, California.
It looks to be the most intense fire tornado ever observed in the U.S.

Article gives an indept explanation as to how it formed.

Three different views of a flash flood in Switzerland. You would really need to keep an eye on weather conditions if rambling about on the hills.

Some tasty storms are moving through parts of NE Spain at the moment. You can watch the approach of a storm on this webcam in Barcelona - https://www.skylinewebcams.com/en/webcam/espana/cataluna/barcelona/playa-sant-sebastia.html

Great shots of the California fires from the ISS . Shows how big they are with pictures taken from 250 miles up.

Is this just a freak year or will this start to become more common?

What's causing it? Normal patterns or man made?
