The Lap of Laois returns on Sunday 2nd April. As usual we offer the choice of 120km and 60km routes. The 120km route is a good challenge with over 1100 metres of climbing (incorporating THE CUT). Checkout the Lap of Laois facebook page for routes (can't link here).
Start and finish is at Stack House, The Irish Prison Service Training Centre Dublin Road, Portlaoise (beside the Midlands Prison). Sign on will be open from 8am with rollout for the 120km at 9.30am and the 60km at 9.45am. There will be a foodstop on route, mechanical support/ Broomwagon, showers and the now traditional chicken curry at the finish. Entry fee is 25 euro for both routes.
This years edition is hosted by the Unlaoised Cycling Club with all proceeds from this event going to... The Aspect Unit of S.O.S Kilkenny, which provides day and residential services for adults with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities.
So please come along on the 2nd of April (which is also The Ninth Annual World Autism Awareness Day) and support a very worthy cause on what should be a very enjoyable day of cycling in Laois.

Glad to see this back, was always a good spin. Will you still have the curry?
Yes the usual hot and spicy curry for all at the finish... couldn't have this event without the curry.
Can you sign up beforehand or just on day?
2 very nice spins. The 60km is a nice flat route and ideal for the cyclists starting out.The 120km is a real tester of a course and well worth a go.
The climb of the Cut comes very early on about 15km in, so everyone will get over
it nice and fresh. The next section of the spin is mostly on good flat roads and
this is followed by the last 60km (after food stop) on undulating roads. A very good spin overall a very good cause to support
and great value at €25 when you throw the showers and curry in.
Hi Smile 111
Unfortunately we can't facilitate signing on before event day but sign on will be open from 8am on the day.
Just giving this a bump... Four weeks from tomorrow, lets hope for better weather
Will be going to this one for sure, always well run and for a good cause.
Am half looking forward to and half dreading this as my first sportive in a long time.
No problem to you at all poolboy, looking forward to seeing you on the day.
Only two weeks to go folks, forgot to mention in opening post that there's plenty of car parking space available at the host venue Brian Stack House Portlaoise.
Fingers crossed for a day like this next Sunday.
Fantastic weather at the moment, a dry day next Sunday will do nicely though. Looking forward to it now, hope a few of you boardsie's can make it.
