I am thinking of doing my pilates routine first thing in the morning - this makes sense from a time management angle
However I am wondering if this is such a good idea, as muscles wouldn't be warmed up. Any one have any advice on a quick warm up or is one necessary
To be honest, I really don't know much about Pilates, but coming from a yoga point of view, I have heard more often than not, that first thing in the morning is the absolute best time for practice. It allows you to work on the muscles in the body that need the most work.
For me, I only ever did early morning practices during my yoga teacher training and some days it was tough, with all the early morning muscle tightness, but it certainly sets you up or the day.
A friend of mine is a Pilates teacher, I'll ask her and see what she says.
Your core is an amazing strap of muscle that very rarely rests in total. When you walk your core is active, when you drive your core is active (or should be ) so don't worry too much about having to warm it up like a muscle that lays dormant over a period.
Either way any good pilates teacher will bring the class through a number of exercises that will fire up the core before you start banging into the 100's
