Hi,

I'm trying to shrink some movie files as much as possible, quality isn't as big an issue as file size.

I've been trying a few conversions options but none have given great result.

Ideally reducing resolution, frame rate and sound to sterio to get as small a result as possible.

Size is way more inportant then quality.

Preferable free software.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Al.

I've found the divx converter to be very straight forward and easy to convert files. All you have to do is load the files and either pick a preset on size or pick your own settings.

This one has been the best in my experience, I found some quality issues with handbrake, I usually use it for ripping DVDs. MPEG stremclip is as good as most compressors you pay for.
