Hi all. Can somebody tell me how to go about researching a ww2 british soldier. I have a few British soldier items that I want to research but find it next to impossible to navigate 'The national Archives Uk'. Is there no site with a searh engine that you can just put in the info you have and then sift through the results.
I know some will say post the info you know here and they will find the info for me. This will be terrific but I'd also like to know how to pull up this info myself. I have ww1 and ww2 needing research. looking forward to a responce. Thanks all.

in my experience you sometimes just have to sift through the files but you might be lucky and find what you are looking for straight away. you might find it harder to research for WW2 records.

I was noticing that there was less info released on WW2.
The guy im trying to research was a Major in the Royal inniskilling fusiliers, 1st army. I have his full uniform and would love to put info behind it.

I specialise in the Inniskillings. PM the details you have on the chap and I'll see what I can find.
