Hi Allibastor,

Meelick is the last left as you exit Portlaoise on the Abbeyleix Road before you get to the Midway Hotel.

If you have time on your hands (approx. 2 hours at least once a month) and have an interest in helping out then portarlington youth club would be interested in hearing from you. Please email us on

We run a club for 12 - 18 year olds every wednesday and we really need more volunteers.

Mountrath Photography Exhibition
The Mountrath Heritage Photography Society is holding the first of many exhibitions planned in Mountrath on the 8th of December. The exhibition entitled ‘Past Days’ will display photographs of Mountrath and the surrounding areas down through the years; such as old businesses, characters and old sporting teams. If you have any old photographs from years gone by and wish to take part, please contact Eddie Phelan or Brenda O’Grady for more information. Next meeting is planned for the 6th of September at 8pm in Phelan’s Restaurant. All photographs will be copied and returned to the owner.

Just an idea to try and get to know some new people in Laois and do social activities together like going to cinema, coffee meet ups, etc.

No longer in operation.
All of the major towns have large playgrounds.
Roll and Bowl Clonminham business park has an indoor play area.
Portlaoise has lots of clubs,GAA, soccer ,swimming, Brownies,Ladybirds,Scouts...quite a lot to do.

My little girl asked me to find a pet farm, and I think it's a challenge for me now
It will take some time to know enough about interesting places, attractions etc... to get my kids out from computers-lol
