I guess it would depend on the age group.

Tiny Dancer is a great sing along song if people know it.

The Boys Are Back In Town by Thin Lizzy, simple to play which is a good thing when you are drunk, and everyone loves screaming out the chorus.

Maybe N17 by the Saw Doctors, I guess depending on the crowd.

Tribute - Tenacious D is always a good laugh.

No Woman, No Cry/ One Love - Bob Marley.

Build Me up Buttercup
Foo Fighters Wheels
Galway Girl (Yawn but sometime the lowest common denominator is required)
Since You've been gone Kelly Clarkson
Dreaming of You The Coral
Fisherman's Bues
Rockin The Free World
Starlight
Proud Mary
Sex On Fire
Use Somebody
When You were Young
Smile Like YOu Mean it
Ziggy Stardust

Everyone of these are pretty perfect.

C - G - Am - F

Or if the key is too hard to sing, Capo it anywhere or

D - A - Bm - G or
G - D - Em - C are the easiest alternatives.

Oh, same with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM&feature=related

Then Pork and beans - Weezer
All along the watchtower - dylan/hendrix
Whiskey in the jar
I will follow you into the dark - death cab for cutie
Heartbeats - jose gonzalez
Hey ya (acoustic version... youtube it!)
And my person favourite is Hero - Enrique Eglaisias. Although if you're singing that you have to get down on one knee and deliver it with so much passion and angst, that you're bound to get punched in the face

If I heard anyone playing any of the songs mentioned in the first six posts (and most of the rest), I'd want to smash that guitar across their skull and shove up their h*le.

But that's just me, innit.

Harsh but fair.

"Wish you were here" always gets them going for me, after that they putty in your hands, Pinball Wizard works too, for one verse anyway then the words get thin on the ground.
