Choosing a car

I'll be looking to get a car in the next few weeks. I have about 8000 to spend. I'lbe doing small miles about 150 a week so it can be petrol.
I was looking for comfort and power, and a good spec.
I was thing along the lines of a 330ci, S60R, 05+ gti, clk, and maybe a Mazda 6 mps.

I was going to have a look at this one,

Anything to lookout for?

After buying my 325ci, about 2 months ago, definitely one to consider! Absolutely lovely machines, cracking engines.

As for things to check, I'd ask about whether or not the water pump has been changed, at that mileage it really should have been. Mine hasn't had it done just yet, but it's on my to do list. Also listen out for knocking from the rear of the car, could point to sub frame issues, or cracked springs. They are pretty reliable cars all in all, I did a lot of research before going for one as people on this forum will know!

As for the fuel consumption, going purely by the on board comp, around town it claims I get 26mpg, but in reality it is most likely a lot worse than that. I don't really want to know what it really is tbh! It wasn't made to be an eco box!

If you're looking for more of a performance car, you probably wont find a nicer 6 MPS than this one:

Having seen it in the flesh on numerous occasions, it is absolutely mint. And also goes like stink!

Thanks Alan, that mps is lovely. I was already talking about it but it's out of my price range unfortunately.
I take it the 330 engine is similar to the 325 in terms of things to check for. I'll have to read all of your thread.

325 and 330 should be pretty much identical as for things to check.

330i would be a pig to tax tbh so i wouldn't even consider one personally

S40 T5?

A cylinder short of your 330i which is not much quicker on paper. Definitely below the radar performance.

I drove one a few years ago, nice power in it but the price of that one would be way too much imo.

Well to be fair, they're both pretty different cars. One is a 2 door coupe, and the other is a 4 door family saloon. Asides from the engine, i'd say they're not really all that comparable. There is no way I would have even considered a 5 series when I was looking.
